Spectacular! I have loved his compositions before, but this really was the most wonderful piece I have heard in ages. Thank you for posting it.

A charming work, with complex interplay between the orchestra and piano, and many beautiful themes. I would be interested in knowing why the piano part is for left hand. Thank you for posting.

Please watch this at the lowest quality only (144p) since it's just for the music, which is much more ecologically responsible than at a higher rate. Watching this at 240p (which is unnecessary for listening purposes), will increase the bandwith by double to almost tenfold! At 1080 the bandwith is augmented by a factor of 100! The use of digital technology accounts for 4% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the emissions from the world's truck fleet. Of that, a BIG part comes from livestreaming videos, mainly 3 sources : KZbin, Netlfix and porn. Let's enjoy this beautiful music by being aware and responsible and doing our little part in protecting this wonderful planet.

the glitch at 3;41 is a transcription error, not found in the other youtube Panenka recording.

Donc une des premières oeuvres concertante pour piano pour la main gauche jamais écrite ? Bien avant Ravel, Prokofiev, Janacek... ?

It seems that there are huge differences between the recording and the score in this video. Anyone can confirm this?

Can you point out a few places please?

There are so many, and I think mainly the piano solo part, for eg. 0:55. It seems to me that the recording is from a revised edition of this piece that is different from the one in this video. But I'm not Martinů expert, just wish to confirm this.

Yeah, it almost appears as if the pianist in this recording is playing an unknown, easier ossia in some parts. This is readily seen in the arpeggios of the last portion of the first movement, and the few pages before that.

Significant differences in the 2nd mvmt piano solo as well

Hm. I don't know about you, but I find relentlessly jolly music (as this almost is), like relentlessly jolly people, as tiresome as relentlessly morose music/people. Sorry, but thanks for posting!

Yes, this music seems to me also "almost relentlessly jolly", as you wrote. That is why I like it so much, in addition to its witty texture and fresh harmonies.

Joseph, with respect, but a large part of your brain is missing.

Indeed, which is why Martinu is so great - he was able to reconcile the jolly with the serious world it inhabits. At his best he can give us an expression of joy which is not - as his slow movements often make clear - in any way a product of ignorance or wishful thinking.
