That's what happens when something becomes more mainstream. It's all about looks and personality. It doesn't matter how much talent you have if you're average looking. Nobody is gonna want to sign or send you out to festivals and tours. If you're not very good looking or have a personality that really stands out you're better off ghostproducing. However, there are exceptions, and Skrillex is one of those. He's an average looking dude but probably had the right connections and knew the right people. Although if you notice, they have him wear sunglasses all the time to hide his face and gave him a different hairstyle to give him some personality. Prior to him gaining fame he just had regular long hair. No fancy shit.

I saw him out in about 1999 somewhere and he played a good funky set. This - on the other hand. Is boring as hell. Just really flat, I almost fell asleep. Sneak, what's happened?

Yeah I reckon there is delay. But also, when you've been dj'ing for longer than "amateur" level, you don't really consciously need to think about hats/counting/head bobbing/etc. It's a feeling, you just mix. How many hundreds of hours of 4/4 have we all listened to. You can sense when things need to happen. I don't think the head-bobbing on or off beat matters. He could dance on one foot with his head bobbing diagonally on only beat 3 of every bar and still beatmix.

EoN604 .....I feel what your saying Eon but here is where your slightly missing the point. a good DJ excuse me a Great DJ is skilled enough to make it look like he's just 'Feeling' it (to use your word) when all along he's still counting, bobbing and adjusting tempo the whole time to make that one particular mix/blend sound great--but he's doing it so effortlessly that it looks like he's doing it on the fly. If you study the game of Dj'ing (meaning going out to clubs and watching Dj's spin Live not just watching them repeatedly on the internet) you'll understand what I'm saying--if you don't already, ya dig :)

I think the goal of this set was just to play some laid back music for people at a pool party(I believe that's where this boiler room was). Everything has a time and place, the sooner you figure that out, the sooner you'll appreciate things more. Also, based on your logic of your first comment, if this guy, or anyone for that matter, learned one maybe minute long trumpet solo then he must have talent. I think that is a very narrow minded way of approaching the issue at hand. Perspective is key.
