Great video! Do you also have problems out your way with feral pigs? I know on some properties they set up wire cage type traps, made from concrete square mesh with a funnel entrance baited with grain. Cheers

Has research been done to verify this is necessary, or even effective? (a twitchy dog can detect a clean trap easily enough). Some practices are urban myths or misinterpretations. Some dog trappers try to exploit the attraction of a prior catch, and get results. Be aware much research is "case study" stuff, and animals' individual (& population) behaviour can differ. Research doesn't make rules in some cases, which scientists, managers and operators can overlook. Like experience, it can be misguided & also revealing. Done right, it shouldn't be based on subjective data, and opinions restricted to discussion points (conclusions are data-based). For initial cleaning, soaking, then pressure washing (in a wire freezer basket etc on a sheet of iron) works easier than scrubbing. If doing a lot, a tool to handle them while standing up saves the back (a long handled ice axe worked ok), Boiling rubber might deteriorate it?
