Boise State detractors conveniently forget that BSU's defense sacked Oregon's Dillon Gabriel 4 times in the first half alone. How many sacks did Oregon's other opponents--you know the ones with "stellar defenses" have? It's no a big deal when Oregon State, UCLA and Michigan State sacked Gabriel ZERO times this season as none of them are bowl eligible. However, the following teams who will be playing in bowl games all struggled to put pressure on Gabriel: Michigan, last season's CFP Champion, sacked Gabriel ZERO times. Washington, who also made the CFP in 2023, likewise had ZERO sacks. #20 Illinois had ONE sack. #8 Ohio State, who has the potential of making it to the CFP Championship, had ZERO sacks. #6 Penn State, who some claim could win is all this season, had ONE sack.
