Literally from episode one with as someone with severe BPD, anxiety, depression, all professionally diagnosed, he really really does portray BPD very well. But he definitely has it. It is one of the worst mental health disorders one can experience. Especially the terrible fear of abandonment, hating yourself, the suicidal ideation and sometimes attempts. It is awful. If you or someone you know think you have BPD or traits please get help and seek treatment. It is awful to go it alone.

I'm late to the party but in the past, I've told my soon-to-be wife that I see myself in Bojack but at first I couldn't tell really why. She recently noticed that I have some BPD symptoms. Two weeks ago, I got an official diagnosis of it. She sent me a link to a tumblr article that was simply titled "Bojack has BPD"
@lachrymose-z5j Жыл бұрын
i will always stand by that diane is bojacks fp, he always calls her when he has a lot of heavy emotions. he feels like he needs her attention and validation all the time. in s1 when he says “i need you to tell me that i’m good” to her, that couldn’t have come from anyone else only diane to have it mean anything to him, when she can’t say it, he spends the beginning of the whole next season trying to be “good” and improving himself (i think this was really just to show diane that he can be a good person) he also gets Very jealous when people get close with her. he’ll spilt on her sometimes when he feels like he’s being abandoned by her, or he finds someone else to give him attention. in s1 he has a whole plot of trying to stop diane and mrpeanut butter from getting married and break up. he kisses her once but other than that he never really shows any type of strong romantic or sexual attraction to diane, like he never talks about actually getting in a relationship with her or getting married, or even just having a sexual relationship with her. he just doesn’t want her marrying someone cause it means she cares about someone else more, and that is really what upsets bojack, i think him kissing her was really a last resort to get her closer with him. i think that whole story just shows how he wants to be the one who gets her most attention. he will always call diane, no matter where their at in their relationship, cause he doesn’t need her helping him he just needs her there. like in view from halfway down, that call with diane, when he relized she wasn’t in la to help him, they just talk and have normal small talk. bojack ends up surviving and not drowning. i think this kinda shows how much he depends on diane, literally life or death. she didn’t have to be there and drag him out of the pool, he just needed to hear her and talk to her (i also think bojack is diane’s fp as well for some reasons, that’s a whole other thing, but i think that’s a part of why their relationship is so toxic cause they are both each others fp), i have diagnosed bpd and this is FULLY what i feel like with my fp

@@reoijFavorite Person behavior. People with BPD, including myself, fear abandonment and death more than anything else, and when someone becomes your favorite person, you start to obsess and fear that they're gonna abandon you in one way or another, you fear something terrible will happen to them or that they will stop loving you and eventually the Borderline cannot handle being away from that person and become completely emotionally dependant on them. My FP is my wife, I'm on a waiting list for a very intense therapy program because we both see it's causing a lot of stress for both of us. Luckily, communication is key when it comes to BPD and we have a lot of it.

Thank you for recognising, that Bojack has BPD, instead of Depression. However BPD, can also have other disorders mixed in with bpd, like, Anxiety, PTSD, C-PTSD, Eating Disorders, and more. causing BPD to be more complicated. I related to bojack. More then the other characters throughout the whole show. And I was diagnosed with BPD, 3 years ago. This disorder is very real. And people should be more aware of it. It's a condition that is extremely hard for everyone including the sufferer. I can't believe I relate to a cartoon horse-man fictional character. More than anyone in real life. :(

Nice video. just a bit of clarification, wanda broke up with bojack because she couldn't deal with his negativity, and him being with Diane, who crashed at their place for a couple of months showed his true color. it was not because of the autoerotic asphyxiation episode, this is actually the episode when they said i love you to each other.

wonder how you'll doing now. Suggest distancing yourself from her. She's exactly the reason you have bpd to begin with, here again she's only showing her tendencies to neglect and avoid accountability, responibility and productive help or even understanding. Hope you didn't get dragged down into trying to make her understand, when she clearly didn't want to. I've been through exactly same shit. It's painful, becasue we always want empathy from our abusers, this is also actually one of the sources of desire for revange. But often it's healthier to just cut yourself off from any impact they have on you, don't rely on both positives and negatives you get from your abusers (even if only past abusers, if they're not really invested in owning up to their shit and being helpful). Wish you well, stay strong and respect yourself. I know that loving yourself is too much for now, but acting with respect is achievable, no matter how you feel about yourself. So hold onto it

He is very borderline, but I always thought he's bipolar, not just depressed. Reason for that is, that Bojack has a few manic episodes, depressed episodes and he also hallucinates at times. It's comorbid, but I feel like does go over peoples heads. Bojack has a mood disorder, everyone relates to him because he's depressed, but this is my whole issue with the show, they are good at representing depression, but none of the other mental issues or disorders are portrayed as well as depression is, and mental health issues don't only present themselves as depression. They're very sloppy with PTSD.

@@jamieenoshima5147 ther eis a portionnthat experiences psychosis, and I knew about that, but I also was of the opinion that when someone experiences hallucinations with BPD, it is indicative of a comorbid psychotic disorder alongside bpd, not necessarily a common symptom of bpd. Delusions are common, but I don't normally assume that someone who diagnosed BPD is also someone who has halucinated before. I still think Bojack in the show presents as bipolar first and comorbidity with borderline personality disorder second. At the very least, I think we can agree that he is not simply depressed...depression can look very different in many different people and Bojack fits the conditions for a person that could develop bpd, given his traumatic past, so to me, he is definitely not just depressed.
