100% right. They both recognized in that final moment that it really was THEIR final moment. Because Bojack was part of her life in a crazy and impactful way, and she loves him for that, but he's also a dangerous and toxic memory that endangered her mental well-being and she has learned how to draw her boundaries and be healthy. Her journey is no longer tied to his ending, and his ending is no longer tied to hers. He watched all the people that he thought he ruined go out and live good lives, and now it's up to him to decide if it's because he never ruined them at all and that he's worthy of love and has a chance to lead a good life too...or if he's going to slip back into his own self-destructive way of thinking and will believe that the only reason they were able to become happy again is because he was locked up and couldn't damage them any more. I know that for some this wasn't as concrete or dramatic as some like their TV show endings, but I love it. It's like Diane said - sometimes life's a bitch and then it keeps going. Bojack dying feels like some shit a TV writer would think of, not a thing that would probably happen in real life. In real life you want an easy out to and you don't often get it, and I'm glad Bojack got no easy outs, but I'm also glad he got a second chance. Also man, Todd really summed it all up didn't he? Sure, you do the hokey-pokey, but then you turn yourself around, and THAT'S what it's all about :-D

On the rewatch, you can focus on the background jokes. You can literally pause it at any frame, and there's always something silly happening in the back, or a pun, or an animal joke. This show is insanely packed with little things you don't notice at first.

Part of the beauty of the show is that while everyone gives their opinions in the comments, or on a reddit or just talking to eachother, everyone takes something else out of the show. Something unique to them. As Todd wonderfully said here, "Isn't the point of art less what people put into it and more what people get out of it?" Side note, its also good how they ended it on a positive note. They grew and changed for the better. Its written in a way that you can't like Bojack. You can't idolize him, but rather idolize the change we went through. The creators even made sure to say that Bojack should not be idolized.

What you talk about in the end regarding not giving this show a chance because it's "just some cartoon about a horse" is a classic lesson to not judge a book by the cover. I'm glad you got to experience this roller coaster of a journey though.

Part of the reason it resonates with so many is that its easier to visualize yourself with an animated anthropomorphic animal rather than a real life actor. If this were a live action show, you can't picture yourself as Will Arnett. Thats Will Arnett. Thats a totally different person. This is a horse, a cat, a dog, and the ocasional human, so its easier to just imagine yourself in their shoes and relate to them. Thats my thinking on this. And It certainly resonated with me and meant more to me than any other show, especially live action, about mental illness.

Great reaction! This is one of the best finales that I have seen! It leaves me with a bitter sweet feeling every time I see it! I would recommend "Over the Garden Wall" (10 episodes) and "Infinity Train" (anthology 4 stories 10 episodes each), they are both cartoon show that have depth to them! And for something with amazing animation and action I would recommend "Castlevania" (4 seasons)! Good luck with whatever you watch next!

Shows that live up to this in my mind are The Sopranos, Atlanta, and Fleabag. Not much else. Don't know if you've seen any of these already. Community is usually a good replacement series because it features the voice of Diane and is created by Dan Harmon who also created Rick and Morty. Although Bojack is certainly a level above Community, that series is still really funny and a one of a kind show. Oh and as for anime, I think you two would love Mob Psycho 100! The art style takes some getting used to BUT the english dub is actually quite good so no subtitles! I believe y'all would love any of these choices and

Words can't express how much your reactions mean to me, cause I never had anyone to watch the show with, even though I always recommend it. @agustinmartinez67652 жыл бұрын
I think is also kinda difficult to get into. Like the best part of BoJack horseman I think starts either at season 2 or midway through it, while season 1 has its moments, they're kind of just a taste of what's to come. And it doesn't help that the first episodes give a very generic adult animated comedy vibe. So, for someone to actually get a taste of what the series truly is, they have to sit through season and a half of something they might not even like.
@marvelbliss2 жыл бұрын
This journey was nice while it lasted, wasn't it? Anyway, as I commented on another channel's reaction to this show, I'd still love to see how Bojack would handle a post-covid Hollywoo(b), were it to continue. Perhaps there's a chance for the series to continue at some point, so we can find out....

I would love to revisit the characters down the line. But hopefully they keep up the quality of the show.

I really recommend you to do a reaction to "over the garden wall", first of all, you can see that many channels have done it (of adult audiences) that can let you know that it is a very good series (and by God it is). best of all there are only 10 episodes of 11 minutes each, it is an animated miniseries, it is very beautiful and very good, again I urge you to verify that it is also a very very popular series

I believed Bojack died and this is just the brain going through what it needs to go through. Like Herb said. Notice how he only talk to the 4 main characters and the Mr. Blue song is everything Diane wanted to say to Bojack Horseman. Which she can never say to him.
@ሠምራ2 жыл бұрын
But that doesn't make sense considering the end of ep 15 and on top of that killing off bojack on the last ep goes against the whole message the show had from season 1 until that last ep.
@jonathanmcknight24532 жыл бұрын
@@ሠምራ the writers left it up for us to decide. That's what I think but everyone have different opinions about it... Everyone in the last episode had a curtain call and I believed this is Bojack Void door... Life a bitch then you die, life's a bitch and you still live. His last little bit of life... Over.
@arielcausey9092 жыл бұрын
@@ሠምራ I agree- like what Diane said “sometimes life’s a bitch and you keep on living,” so I think this “non” ending (like not really the typical happily ever after) is perfect for this show- but, if some people want to believe that this is still in his near-death mind (continuation from the previous episode), I think they’re free to take that interpretation from it- like what Todd said about art being more about what people take from it
@Steelburgh2 жыл бұрын
RBW said that's not what he was thinking but it's a valid interpretation. After all, isn't the point of art less what people put into it and more what people get out of it?
