Happy to see the Karnivool bug bite someone else! I'm an old Ct. hippie with 4 grown children who made sure I kept current over the decades! But I beat them to discovering this great Australian group. Ian Kenny the lead singer, also has another band Birds of Tokyo, much like Maynard! They are a thinking man's prog-metal group, well worth a deep dive. Peace & Happy Trails!

Hey man, have you heard of Cog by chance? I just wrote a little about them above, but i always jump at the chance to suggest them to people that may be unaware. If you're an Aussie im guessing you know them, but if overseas maybe not.

Birds of Tokyo have some really sick songs but i'm craving a new Karnivool album so badly.

@@PanasonicTooth Like I stated previously I'm 'OLD'!!! Lucius's father Kevin is among the guitarists I follow. So naturally, Cog became my New Normal! I'm not an Aussie, just an old Ct. Yankee with no borders on my tastes! Peace, Mate!

@@Pulsed101 I can't fathom what the hold-up is about. They released 1 song in advance and I thought were going to release a new album in March! But delays are our New Normal, there is always a Cog in the wheel lately! Peace.

Great reaction! I really enjoy seeing people discover this group. If you are down to go on a KARNIVOOL journey, then I'll be here too. If you think you'll check out more, please react to their songs - SIMPLE BOY, GOLIATH & NEW DAY. I wish more youtubers would show them some love.

Oh, and heres a few more songs from Karnivool off the top of my head: Goliath, We Are, Mauseum, Change (parts 1&2), Umbra. I could really go on naming them all but that'll do for now. Also you said to mention any similar bands, and the one that comes to mind instantly is a band called "Cog". They're a 3 piece with a unique and massive sound and they share the throne with Karnivool as the kings of Aussie "prog/alt rock/metal". Cog never broke overseas quite like Karnivool has and its a shame, but they have a huge cult following in Aus along with Karnivool. Maybe the song "Doors" would be a good entry point, or anything from their album "The New Normal", but their first album "Just Visiting" you might like even better. They were a big inspiration to Karnivool too. Anyway ill leave it there for now :)

Yeah mate, you've stumbled across some real magic here. To understand this band. Listen to all albums start to finish. To enjoy this band, start with the sound awake album, it really sucks you in.

I really hope you do more Karnivool! This track is pretty "meh" by Karnivool standards imo, actually one of the weakest ive heard from them (i dont much care for the vocal melody in particular). Their album "Sound Awake" is a masterpiece, but "Themata" and "Assymetry" are classics too. Basically if you liked this track, you will LOVE the rest of their stuff.

* and i meant mainly the vocal melody in the verses. Cant edit on mobile :/
