Much love from Sweden. I have a friend who went to South Africa. Drove out in no where into the bush. Found a small town and a bar. Had a few beers. And the bartender when he got to know his origin, refused to accept payment for his beers. Because of the scandinavian volunteer corps. Huge respect to you and your peoples!

Why wouldn't you? Boers never had anything against blacks. That's the truth. I consider myself a white nationalist, but I mean no harm to anyone. I want all people in the world to have a piece of land for themselves. Blacks can have a large part of SA. But if whites want to have some areas for themselves, it is ok. They have lived here for centuries, and they built a lot of great stuff. I think they are entitled to self-determination. I wish nothing but the best of luck to everyone else, and from me they will never suffer any harm.

Each and everyone has respect and love for their own culture, so as Afrikaners we also suffered tremendously under the greedy British who killed our people for the riches of our land. We were treated as less than animals, spit upon and left to die like dogs. Farms burnt down, my own family died from hunger. I wonder how many of our South Africans REALLY KNOW OUR TRUE HISTORY OF HOW THE BRITISH DESTROYED our people and cultures??. Just to get their greedy hands on our minerals and get rich while our own people suffered and died. After all, the so-called queenies and their palaces must be lavishly be provided for in luxury. What a misconception and idiotic fable about queens, kings, princes and princesses in a modern world!!! Stupid fairytales!!! People are suffering, they are hungry and the world is techno.

Beautiful, emotive song. I'm only half Afrikaans and hardly speak the language anymore and live in the cold, grey land of the English now, but this song brought me close to tears. I recall the tales my father would tell me of his grandparents' and great grandparents' experience in the Boer War. Apparently his great grandmother hit the English colonel who came to commandeer her dairy and he packed her and the children and the black workers off to a concentration camp the next day. So the story goes.

Massive respect to Afrikaners and I apologise on behalf of my Great Uncle who fought in the Anglo-Boer war, led there by a lying British government seeking diamonds and imperial greed. Is Emily Hobhouse remembered there? She did quite a lot and when she saw the camps came back to England and told people what was being done in their name. I wish history had played out differently, our peoples should never have been enemies. I just realised I hadn't mentioned that Hobhouse was born in Cornwall in a place called St. Ives and I was born only about 50 miles away in Devon.

Towards the end of the Anglo-Boer war a handful of Boers kept fighting against the full might of the British Empire. Their farms and homes burnt to ash, their wives and children dying in concentration camps... 82'742 Boers against 346'693 British soldiers. In times like these, legends are made... On a mountain at night, we lie in darkness.. and wait. In the mud and the blood I lie cold, knapsack and raincoat stuck to my skin. My house and my farm, burnt to coals in pursuit of our defeat But those flames and that fire now burn deep, deep within me De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey Hear the khakis that laugh - a handful of us against your great force But the mountains lie here against our backs - they think its over.. The heart of a Boer, it lies deeper and wider - they haven't seen it yet On a horse he comes galloping, the lion of the west-Transvaal De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey Because my wife and my child are lying in a camp and wasting away While the British jackboot walks over a nation that will rise again De la Rey, De la Rey will you come and lead the Boers? De la Rey, Dela Rey General, General, as one, we will fall in behind you, General De la Rey General, General, will you come and rescue us? My best attempt at a translation, I hope was able to do this magnificent song justice :)

As a spaniard I feel very proud of this Afrikaner from Spaniard stock (De la Rey / Of the King in English). "The white tribe" of Africa deserves the best, is really sad and amazing how De Klerk and so many traitors could give SA to the radicals "Mugabes" knowing what was going to happen in several years... Madiba was a great man when he got older but he was an exception. The only solution is the creation of an afrikaner State there without apartheid of course, but where all the white people of SA can live in freedom and security, if this not happens, in several more years like in Zimbawe...

The afrikaner/boer wasn't responsible for apartheid the same way the germans wasn't responsible for world war 1 & 2. It wasn't the wish of the boer people in the beginning but rather the will of the broederbond using the already established segregation prior to apartheid by the British. After the boer war boere were given a choice of be treated like the black south africans or be spared by staying under the british thumb. Many of Those leaders at the end of the war with the stalwart generals all dead in battle would become the new boer leaders and form the broederbond which was till the end of apartheid the reason for their and their children who followed in politics success, i as a boer blame the british and following broederbond for apartheid. During the groot trek there were people of colour who trekked with the voortrekkers in peace. People forget on the early farms in the free state and transvaal boere and former slaves from the cape established homesteads and lived together. The wives cooked together and taught the children together while the husbands and sons worked the fields and hunted. The only blemish between boere and other non whites being the slag van bloedrivier. Where dingane's betrayal of piet retief and massacre of his group of voortrekkers of men, women and children of both boere and non whites who travelled with them. Only adding fuel to the already existing strife from within the zulu. Eventually leading to his defeat at bloedrivier and the later coalition between the voortrekker leader andries pretorius and dingane and shaka's half brother Mpande overthrew dingane, making Mpande the new zulu king and establishing peace between the boere and zulu. That is our only notable blemish pre broederbond. Apartheid is a stain on the afrikaner name caused by the broederbond.

And still in 2022 I respect and love this song as I honour and remember my own family and country and their suffering from the Brits and their so-called monarchy. Greedy usurping people., vampires sucking and murdering other countries to glorify themselves and uphold their "fairytale-legacy". The TRUE MONARCHS are all the victims of their masacres who died for their countries. Never ever had the British humbled themselves and their "monarchy" admitted and asked forgiveness to my beloved country and also other countries for their greedy hands, their murderous exploiting and thieving massacre of hardworking people defending their countries against their rapacious war. 👹🤮

Lyrics in English for those who don't speak Afrikaans (including me but I'll do my best). On a mountain in the night, we lie in darkness and wait, In the mud and the blood I lay cold, as rain clings to me, And my house and farm, burned to the ground to get us, Now those flames and fire burn deep, deep within me, De La Rey, come and lead the Boer/farmer, De La Rey? General, we will all fall to you as one. Well the Khakis may laugh, a handful of us against their massive great force, With our backs to the cliffs they think it's all over for us, But the heart of a Boer/farmer lies deeper and wider than this, On his horse here he comes, the lion of West Transvaal, De La Rey, come and lead the Boer/farmer, De La Rey? General, we will all fall to you as one. My wife and children, are dying in a camp, And the Khakis walk over us but we'll rise again, De La Rey, come and lead the Boer/farmer, De La Rey? General, we will all fall to you as one. Sorry I did my best. I'm English and my understanding of Afrikaans is limited but did my best to pick it up during my few years in South Africa many years ago! My Great Uncle fought in the Anglo-Boer war, sorry to say but he was one of those 350,000 British soldiers. As his descendent, I'm happy to say openly that he was wrong and just one of the many soldiers sent to die for British imperial greed and diamonds. What was done to the Afrikaners (the camps) was totally wrong. Not all English were on the wrong side, Emily Hobhouse visited South Africa, saw the camps and came back to England and was a big part of exposing the reality of a war being waged in the name of people who had no idea such cruelty was being done against the descended of our European cousins.
