@@goose5719you can say that all day but in the end of the day he probably didn’t earn that shit because he already felt entitled to it. Most draft picks don’t end up doing shit because in the end of the day they don’t have the mentality to make it. Sure the skills and talent are there, but that doesn’t ultimately matter if you don’t wanna work on your craft constantly

@gureyg3795
@gureyg3795 Жыл бұрын
He was wrong for that take about Pop, but truth be told Mccants schooled Gil regarding Bol Bol here. Gil can't be saying he likes Bol Bol, he has alot of talent etc but expects him to fail with the Suns, is he drunk?.😂😂 Ask Magic fans they know he lacked opportunities for big mins but in the limited mins he played he always filled up the scoreboard. Just need a team to consistently play him because he can really do it all at 7ft 3...

Underrated part of this vid is Gil's 14:10 spit/speech. He's self-aware. He has an idea his skillset should net him a higher draft pick, but he wasn't able to because of his attitude. But his borderline-Kobe approach to his game prep ultimately got him the Most Improved Player award. It's not just "opportunity", he pushed himself hard to get to that point. And the rest is history (Gilbert Arenas rule has other teams outbidding the team who drafted him without a fight). Opportunity without results will lead to what Gil said, "trash". Double-single on 33 starts in his senior season ain't gonna cut it with a supposed skillset that Bol Bol has. He had his chance.

Bol Bol started half the season last year and played 21 minutes a game. I don’t know how much more of an opportunity people want him to get. You don’t get 30 minutes based on potential, you get it by producing at a lower role first. Someone like Goga Bitadze is a prime example of climbing the ranks by producing results on the court. He’s been such a good started while Wendell’s been hurt, spacing the floor and being such a defensive presence that opposing teams are scared to score in the paint. And the magic has been cooking since he got into the starting lineup. Bol Bol hasn’t shown that level of value despite having opportunities.

Bol Bol was a top five highschool recruit and killed it for the short time he was in college. His effort has always been criticised. He had nine months to prepare for the draft. He was expected to gain about ten pounds but he actually lost ten pounds. Come draft time he’s taken in the middle of the second round and then traded on draft night. Then he doesn’t play in Denver, gets traded to Boston for nothing, then gets traded to Orlando again for nothing, signs a minimum deal for two years, does play the first year, but then gets waived because they didn’t think he was worth 2 million for the second year. This is clearly a him problem 😂 he’s capable of the spectacular, but knowing he can do those things makes him a horrible decision maker and he doesn’t give a lick of effort on defence. So he’s a liability on both sides. He should have spent the last four years in the NBA using his natural talent to learn how to play NBA basketball. Now it’s probably too late.

he and cam reddish constantly get the “well they aren’t being given the right opportunity” when in reality they have and simply aren’t good enough to get the minutes. He couldn’t get playing time in Denver, but apparently Mike Malone doesn’t know what he’s doing. In Orlando he did, and they steadily realized that the few highlight plays doesn’t make up for how lost he is on the court most of the time and was faded out of that lineup. Well, must be Orlando’s fault, too. The idea of Bol Bol is far greater than what he actually is. and Cam Reddish just flat out isnt good. He was bad at Duke, too. People need to let go of some of these hype names.

Instead of working hard to keep his good play up and improve he got too relaxed, bc he thought making the league was enough. It has nothing to do with opportunity, he refused to work so He doesn’t get work. It’s that simple.

Orlando didn't let him go because he wasn't productive, they just felt with wendell carter, paolo, and Jonathan isaac, they had enough bigs to develop. Same reason they let go of mo bamba, despite him having his best statistical season the year before They believe isaac can be an all defense calibre player, they believe paolo can be all nba, they believe wendell is fringe all star, they don't know what mo or bol will develop into and they have too many players to develop at the same time

He averages more turnovers than assists. He can not be a point forward - most guys in that mold sport early signs of potential floor general abilities like a good Assist-Turnover ratio and a above average handle. Think guys like Draymond, Kyle Anderson, Franz Wagner, Josh Giddey. Even Pokusevski has some potential there. Watching Bol Bol is like watching a newborn deer trying to run. Just straight up reckless with his handle + selfish in a team concept.

His play style is point forward. It doesn’t mean he should play that way. This is why I said he needs to be coached and mentored. He doesn’t play effectively in any area to be truly valuable to the team. He plays out of position and does too much with the ball. What he has is potential. He needs to be guided into the right direction and fit a system.

MPJ had serious back concerns yet he only fell to the a mid 1st round selection, Cam Whitmore had injury concerns but he was still able to be a 1st round pick, Kyrie only played 11 games in college yet he was the 1st pick, James Wiseman had missed a whole year and he had lingering health issues yet he was still able to go top 3.
