Nick watches from outside the hospital room as Brooke tries to interact with Hope, who has yet to come out of her coma. Hector discovers the reason for the spa accident, a faulty drain cover. Dr. Sobel tells Brooke that Hope’s breathing is normal, which is a good sign. Hector arrives at the hospital and tries to comfort Brooke.

They had an entirely different story in mind for this that would've marked the return of Deacon Sharpe. The original idea was that Hope was supposed to wake up alone in her room with some memory loss, get out of bed and leave the hospital without anyone noticing. She was then supposed to be wondering the street and then someone was supposed to find her.... DEACON! Deacon was then supposed to take her to his home and take care of her and not even contact Brooke. He would start bonding with her. Brooke of course would be worried out of her mind not knowing where Hope is. Deacon was supposed to keep it a secret for a while. It would've made a good story but unfortunately, Sean Kanan(Deacon) wasn't available at the time so the story had to be axed. What I think would've happened next is that Brooke might have even gone on public tv to tell everyone that her little daughter, Hope is missing and would ask that if anyone has any information to please contact FC. I'm sure eventually they'd find out that Deacon had her the whole time. If Brooke had Deacon arrested, I'd say either 2 things would happen. Deacon would tell the police and the reporters that he's really Hope's father not Whip Jones which would cause a huge scandal. OR Deacon would tell Brooke that she's going to get the charges against him dropped and she'd ask why. He'd tell her that since Hope's disappearance was a hot story, the reporters are going to want a follow up and they'll ask him why he kept Hope all that time and when they do, he'll have to tell them who Hope's father REALLY is. Brooke would be horrified, not thinking of that. She'd privately tell Lt. Baker that Deacon is to be released and she wants the charges dropped. Lt. Baker would be curious and ask why. He'd point out that she was ready to throw him into prison for keeping her daughter. She'd beg Lt. Baker to keep this confidential but he'd tell her that he can't promise anything until she tells him. She'd confess that Deacon kept Hope the whole time because he's Hope's biological father not Whip Jones. He'd recall that Deacon was married to Brooke's other daughter when Brooke was pregnant and would realize that Hope's the result of an affair that Brooke had with her son-in-law. Brooke ashamed says it's true and very few people outside of the family know about it. Lt. Baker is disturbed by learning this and points out what all the people who have been praying for her to find Hope all this time would think of her. Brooke would beg Lt. Baker not to go to the press with this and would say that the public can not find out about this. It would not only ruin her life but Bridget and Hope's too. Lt. Baker isn't happy with what he heard but having children himself, he understands. He'd tell everyone that there's been a misunderstanding and that Deacon Sharpe is being a released. Brooke would later explain to Ridge and Nick that if they go after Deacon on this, the truth about him being Hope's father will come out and they can't let that happen.

It was on a website called The world of the Bold and the Beautiful. It showed recaps of every episode all the way back to 1996. It had news of developing ideas and ideas that were axed. Another idea I remember reading about was they were thinking of it turning out that Prince Omar secretly had RJ’s paternity test rigged to reveal Ridge as the father so Taylor wouldn’t want to go back to Ridge and that Nick was really RJ’s father but apparently they didn’t like that idea. The website was closed down a few years ago I’m afraid.

Also if they had gone along with having Deacon return and keeping Hope from Brooke. When Brooke found out, I bet she'd go off the deep end at Deacon and this is what would've been said, Brooke: You kept Hope away from me for months, Deacon! Do have any idea what that feels like? Deacon: Actually, I do. I also know what it feels like to have Hope kept away from me for YEARS! You've been keeping my own daughter away from me for years, Brooke! Ever since she was born! I think the question is, do YOU know what it feels like? I think after all this time, you should know how I feel. Brooke: So you did this to get back at me? Deacon: I did this so I could get to know my daughter, so I could actually be her father because you sure as hell wouldn't let me! Brooke: You knew I had good reasons for it. I couldn't hurt Bridget any further by seeing her ex-husband raise a child with her mother. I couldn't let her get involved in a scandal like that. Deacon: Really, Brooke? Let me ask you something. Who did you care more about protecting from the scandal, Bridget or yourself?

Yes, maybe it's normal if your child is hurt. It's bad when something like this happens. Children are killed in such accidents. But you're absolutely right: Brooke is particularly good at this in other situations too.
