Ridge suprise at donna having the power of attorney is so glorious, he never even considered that his father could do such a thing because they have looked down on that relationship from the beginning, he just assumed it will be one of them. I also think their hostility towards donna probably inspired Eric to do thos to protect donna, which means had they been accepting he might not have changed it so fast.
