I think we see here why Liam has a "Hero complex". Its because he couldn't save his mother. Even though there was nothing he could have done, Liam somehow feels he let his mom down by not saving her. Bill said his romance with Kelly started his senior year of college and carried on in the summer. Then she got a job at Forrester and moved to LA. Thorne was the one who hired Kelly and they eventually got close and went out a few times. Shortly aftet this, Kelly must have found out she was pregnant. Did she know who the father was?
