Because they have this dance where they try to hurt each other when they are angry at each other. Ridge tried to punish her when he got involved with first Katie and then Caroline. Also he wanted the CEO position and when he could not draw he used Caroline as a means to an end. It is telling when Brooke was going to marry Bill in Abu Dahbi before that Ridge took her engagement ring and trew it at Bill and Bill was telling him that if RJ was having nightmares he was going to walk into his and Brooke`s bedroom where they were going to be sleeping and Ridge just tried to punch him and they got into a fight which Brooke broke. Then when Quinn send the selfie of her and Bill to Ridge and he went to Abu Dahbi to stop the wedding while engaged to Katie.
