This is the part of the Caroline, Brooke, Thorne, and Ridge storyline that does not place enough responsibility on Caroline for her own decisions.. Regardless of when she got the letter if she knew she loved Ridge then why marry his brother?? Why even date both of them in the first place. Kissing Ridge 1 day and then Thorne the next day and then cheats on Thorne with Ridge once she is married.. her actions were waaay worse than Brooke’.. at least she did admit what she did was wrong and she confessed to Caroline..

It was absolutely selfish and self-serving of Brooke to withhold that letter. Had Stephanie not pressed the issue, it never would've been known that Ridge had even sent one. That being said, in a year or two, Caroline is absolutely 100% delusional if she blames Brooke for not having her chance to marry Ridge. She got the letter, regardless. And NOT the morning of her wedding....as she likes to harp on. She got it the day before. And she & Ridge DO get the chance to privately talk about his feelings for her. And she very clearly and adamantly says she wants Thorne. So all her bellyaching and backpedaling down the road is what made me really dislike Caroline in the future. It was her own fault she didn't marry Ridge. She knew how he felt and she married Thorne anyway. As the old saying goes "you made your bed, now you get to lie in it".

Yes, the letter had no relevance at all to Caroline's decision. She made the conscious choice to marry Thorne. The problem for her was watching Ridge fall in love with Brooke. Caroline received the letter in enough time to end it with Thorne. Yes, what Brooke and Thorne did was terrible. But, the anger and hatered that Brooke received from Caroline was totally unwarranted. Because Caroline had time to read the letter and call off the wedding.

People, Caroline was traumatized & she answered the proposal based on feelings of vulnerability and gratitude which she had for Thorne it is very easy to confuse with love… this all becomes very clear when she finally realizes it…loved it when backstabbing Brooke finally got her comeuppance!

Really...Bell Sr. created both the characters of Caroline and Brooke..and through it all.. he gave his characters choices as scripted. Caroline still choose Brother Thorne over Ridge character letter or not. Brooke was attracted to Ridge..and Ronn and Katherine's chemistry was on fire...Bell Sr. saw this all to well and thank goodnees he did and gave us Brooke and Ridge couple and very entertaining to watch. Great writing and insight !

My precise point. Prenups given close to wedding date and especially on the same day as the wedding are invalid for the same reason: duress. A person is too emotionally affected to make the right decision. Brooke knew that. Throne too. That's why I find it even creepier that he asked Caroline to marry him the same day her rape case was closed, everybody blames Brooke for keeping the letter but Thorne was the one who suggested it. Both of them had what's coming later on when Caroline and Ridge got to know the truth.
