And to think he ends up doing the same thing with Brooke in the 2000s when she’s with his other brother Nick. Brooke was heavily medicated and beyond drunk and told Ridge to leave before she went upstairs and ridge followed her and took his clothes off and raped her, but ofcourse Brooke and everyone else forgave him and blamed Nick for coming to her defense.

Yes this is a difficult concept to grasp if one is not psychologically savvy/majored in psychology PHD/ psychiatry MD field. This is per psychology terminology: a psychological defense mechanism ( ie. protecting herself from the intensity of her LOVE and Passion for a playboy Ridge who hurt her once when she was a sheltered/ naive woman with a controlling father & and then her 1st sexual experience being rape) ; the conflict is between Men BREaking her TRUST versus Strong feelings of LOVE/ Passion for Ridge…the rest of the episodes are Caroline slowly coming to terms with her sexuality and reconciling her feelings of LOVE/PASSION for Ridge…she was initially very heavily guarded with her feelings for Ridge even as he flirted with her daily and told her he loved her almost every time they were together (PLEASE NOTE HE NEVER EVER TOLD BROOKE THAT HE LOVES her even though BROOKE has already confessed that she LOVES him SEVERAL times already(personally I think “ obsessed” with Ridge). This story line was intentionally written as a prank that got out of hand…the out of hand is CRIDGE truly making LOVE, Ridge knew exactly what he did but Caroline DID TOO but at a subconscious level only initially…hence they keep replaying that statement of “ you turned on to me” which is crucial in this story. They both are subconsciously feeling guilty of the passionate love making but Caroline’s mind will not accept this initially as it means infidelity to her husband…but with time she accepts her mistake and the BIGGEST MIsTAKE of all her rushing into hasty marriage proposal due to feelings of gratitude for Thorne rather than LOVE; she loved Thorne as a good friend and confused that deep trusting friendship with LOVE…she LOVED HIM but was NOT IN LOVE with HIM/ Thorne. It is very common for rape victims to struggle with mistaking emotions of sensitivity/ caring/ support / friendship with Love (& security) . This is the essence of the CRIDGE LOVE story…and the passionate lovemaking night that CRIDGE shared though started as a prank was just as intimate as could be. Hence Ridge was most RAW, HONEST and transparent to Caroline ( love Ridge’s voice as he said it again: it was LOVE / there was LOVE) the day he showed her the hickeys/ love scratches on his back because she remembered/ KNEW she had DONE IT! The champagne did not blot out their passionate love making even as the realization and the guilt of it is too much to bear for her! She knew deep in her heart and subconsciously…. That is what a therapist does in sessions They bring subconscious feelings/ thoughts to conscious awareness…and when they do there is clarity and self realization! Which is the beauty of these episodes of CRIDGE, unless you have a psychological background or Savvy or training in psychoanalysis the depth of this beautiful LOVE story telling is lost on lay viewers…I have been fortunate to have this explanation from a psychoanalyst/ MD & PHD and it makes sense! Please do read on the fascinating topic of defense mechanisms in the field of psychology.

I don’t understand why Caroline is always so impatient with her husband and her father.. why does she always take their all their expression of concerns as meddling. She can be very short fuse and mean to them at several times. It’s very annoying to watch her spoilt attitude. Her widowed father could hv easily remarry and shift his attention, yet he remains a doting father while Caroline is always quick to crucify him for the slightest faults which are all the cause of his love for her.

@@greggel yes Bill can go overboard at times.. But it comes from a place of love.. You only have to juxtapose Bill with Stephen to understand the pain of an absent or an inattentive parent. Caroline could exercise some amount of patience with Bill instead of just snapping his head off at the slightest instance. Yes she should stand her ground when Bill goes too far.. But her constant impatience with her father is very painful when she is very2 patient and considerate with Ridge for all his faults.
