In the scene where she confronts her mother (Betty White), Stephanie indicated that her father physically assaulted her on a regular basis if she didn’t act perfect. So she grew up under intense pressure to be perfect. So I see her as different from a spoiled brat, but more a person who was never allowed to, be a child. This means that the world is very black or white to her. I suspect in her drive to be perfect, she would have had few friends and would have been a loner as a young child. Later she probably had a lot of fake friends to simulate the appearance of social perfection. Just my thoughts based on the script.

Taylor already knows that son and father have been involved with the same woman Spoiler Spoiler - and when Taylor finally marries Ridge is will be when Ridge has spent the last 6 months having an affair with his father's wife and they had had plans for a future together. And then Taylor will get to deal with the question if Brooke is carrying Eric's baby or the baby of Taylor's husband..... . And while Ridge on his own is already a mess (a boyfriend/fiance desiring his father's wife/ a husband supposedly having a child with his ex...) controlling Stephanie should have been another warning signal to run. ___________________ I said it before but Dr. Michelle Brookner will always be my hero/favorite therapist, because - she never let anyone talk her into something she didn't feel comfortable with (told Cridge to 'get another therapist' if they want to tell Thorne that he had shot Ridge) - and because Dr. Brookner never showed any romantic interest in Ridge.
