*BRAD DOESN'T HAVE THE RANGE* What is the point of trying to make Brooke's phone call to Ridge suspenseful when the viewer already knows she's chosen him and dumped James? It's a small thing but it's an example of Brad Bell's inferior writing and structure. Under Bill Bell, whenever Ridge had to choose between two women, all the suspense was arranged around keeping the viewer guessing and the climax was when he would meet with one of the women and slowly (painfully) reveal his decision. But we knew from the jump yesterday that Brooke was going to dump James and instead Brad is trying to engineer suspense on the back end here with Ridge and a fait accompli? And of course Bill Bell's triangles always had two viable interests _both_ of whom you could see Ridge choosing (Caroline vs Brooke or Taylor vs Brooke) whereas here, no one thought Brooke would ever choose or go through with marrying James. In every way the attempt to copy his dad's storytelling just reveals Brad's _lack_ of talent.

Great point! Just a simple thing like the order of the scenes - Ridge waiting for the phone call _after_ Brooke's decision has already been revealed to the viewer - makes all the difference. It makes me think the purpose of the scene was not to give us tension about Brooke's phone call, but to let us hear Ridge's thoughts about letting go of Taylor and moving on with Brooke, as a backdrop to raise the stakes of the Morocco scenes and show us that Taylor's recovery is on a deadline.

I have been appalled by prince Omar's quick decision to order a risky operation for someone he is not related to and shouldn't be able to make decisions for and that could lead to her death 🙁 - but maybe Omar at least kinda got that part right from his dream (Taylor in the dream screaming at Omar: Wake me up before my husband broadcasts over the satellites that he has fallen in love again and that he is ready to marry his ex!! Darla fell into the car as she was trying to change the tire. Steffy was defending herself against Aly, who was trying to re-enact the night her mother died that night. There was no mention of Thorne and Taylor still dating when Aly died, as Thorne was alone at her funeral

@@tiroyaonejustinphologolo9763 but still, I doubt that accident in 2000 would have happened if Macy hadn't been suffering a breakdown in the middle of battling alcoholism (and she may well have been legally intoxicated given how much she'd been drinking earlier during the day). Taylor was absolutely driving drunk (she had been drinking and another character commented that she smelled of alcohol, and she was driving on a suspended license), and I always thought the show absolved her of that responsibility too easily by saying it was an unavoidable accident because of the weather (Macy never got a free pass because of the foggy weather in 1993 but was made to take full responsibility, which to me was a far better way to handle the issue). And as for Aly's death, I saw it as Steffy using far more violence than needed to defend herself. Aly had stopped the car on her own and Steffy pulled her out of it (why?). Aly had a small rock in her hand and Steffy hit her with a tire iron.

The Taylor storyline was not my favorite but they could’ve at least had a younger man a prince a good looking man who swept Taylor off her feet and she had amnesia for a long time and fell in love and got pregnant and they got married and then eventually she got her memory back etc; But meantime Brooke and Ridge had a baby and were happy and Stephanie went crazy trying to get Taylor back into the family and with Ridge and the prince would put her in her place and so on and so on.
