Good thinking, Macy. Nobody at Spectra will ever recognize you in those sunglasses. Macy obviously hasn't inherited her mother's talent for disguises. Then again, maybe this is intentional and says something about the difference between the two characters. Her mother is a trickster and virtually a shape-shifter, Macy never ever appears disguised and is the only major character to turn down *two* costume balls (that included virtually _everyone else_ in the cast). Maybe it has something to do with her deep-rooted contempt for inauthenticity and espionage.

Just occurred to me... Eric is chastising Dylan (as usual) about him taking Jessica to a bday party with an older crowd, whether there would be alcohol, etc.. BUT... Jessica has already been invited and accepted the invitation by Sly, who I think is older than both Dylan and Ivana, and was going out on a date with him to The Bikini: a *bar that sells alcohol* 😒 Is it that Eric is so totally unaware of what is going on in his niece's life? Anyway he palmed her off on Steph so he prob really doesn't know anything (as usual)

Red Flag: Anthony likes to rush things by asking Macy for a "hot tub" experience when told to slow down, yet still stubbornly pushes for the tub. As @AnnieO mentioned in past episodes, these two may be physically attracted but mentally repel each other.
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is very apparent in this episode. They are on completely different wavelengths. Anthony is all about hot tubs and physical intimacy, and Macy is like "let's have the kind of date that would be appropriate for Jessica and also I really want to show you my demo..." (Also, the connection between Macy's singing voice and her control of her own plot is right there again, as she pushes for Anthony to "hear" her, and he refuses to listen and tries to minimize her "voice" to a background track in his hot tub seduction.)

How I love this actor who is playing the role of Thorne! He plays the role with so much compassion and empathy, and with an extreme amount of kindness that brings me joy to watch how caring and protective he is of sweet Jessica! I prefer this actor's portrayal of Thorne, as well as the first actor who portrayed Thorne, way more than the last 2 idiots who took on the role. Those last 2 portrayed Thorne as a conceited playboy, so in love with himself and totally lacking humility. That's just my opinion!
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you! Jeff Trachta's Thorne is my favorite version of the character (followed by CN, then WH, then IR whom I barely even count). And although every version of Thorne is deeply flawed, with JT's Thorne at least it is not portrayed as intentionally deceptive or selfish, but rather as a result of poor communication skills and low self esteem.

❤❤❤ The Writers are using characterization to show us inside of Dylan's mind. Through this technique, Dylan's character begins to emerge and it aids in the rising action of the plot. Therefore, A series of events regarding these youths will follow. Dylan seems rather optimistic that he can keep Jessica safe while showing her a good time at the surprise birthday party. Eric should not give his approval because Jessica is a minor, and any number of things could go wrong including spiked drinks and so on ... Angel/Trinidad. ❤❤❤
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 Жыл бұрын
The "cliffhanger" of "will Jessica drink alcohol or not at her birthday party?" is as low stakes as they come. If she is as mature as she thinks she is, she'll simply say no, stay sober and have a great time. If she gets drunk just because she can't handle the peer pressure, well, then Ivana will have proven her point and Jessica really is too much of a kid to hang out with adults.

@annieo6527
@annieo6527 Жыл бұрын
Today scene with Anthony and Darla confirms my interpretation of Anthony's "tantrum" the other episode as deliberate manipulation with the intent to "conquer" Darla. Here, he reminds her of that conversation, and how he as an artist has to have his "needs" met, and takes it one step further by pushing Darla into modeling lingerie for him and then aggressively seducing her. Just like with Sally and Macy, he is using Darla to meet _his_ needs. He doesn't care about Darla other than as a means of relieving his own s exual frustration. Interestingly, this MO is very similar to Clarke's - Clarke tried the same with Darla (among others), and even the background music is the one typically accompanying Clarke's fantasies. But Anthony still gives off a more sinister vibe than Clarke because we have already seen him cross certain lines that we never saw Clarke cross. The power balances between Clarke and the objects of his desires, and Anthony and the objects of his desires, are different. Women have always had the power to reject Clarke, while Anthony is not willing to _allow_ women to reject him.
@TriniT21
@TriniT21 Жыл бұрын
Very true. I actually put in another comment that Clarke and Anthony were quite similar in the "lusty" department. But I really find that Darla should quit taking one for the team. Anthony wouldn't even be with her at all if Macy had taken him up on the hot tub offer. It is so cringe worthy and demeaning to her character.
@annieo6527
@annieo6527 Жыл бұрын
@@TriniT21 yes, Darla is sometimes portrayed as too eager to please, or as having a weakness for men, or as having these "oops!" moments. For some reason, it never seriously threatens out perception of her character as "all good" though, because we know that she is loyal when it counts. (That one time in 2003 being the exception.) For example, if Macy was seriously involved with Anthony, Darla kissing him would be a big no-no. But Macy and Anthony have subzero rooting value as a couple, and so we don't really perceive Darla kissing Anthony as a betrayal of Macy.

After Stephanie and Jessica's convo in the kitchen the other night, it seems like she would have gone to Eric with her concerns about Jess going out with an older guy on her birthday. She is a minor and they are supposed to be responsible for her well being while she's under their roof. It's clear that Eric has misgivings about Jessica going to this party but he's taking Dylan's word for it. 😕 Somebody slip Anthony some salt peter, please 😵‍💫
@TriniT21
@TriniT21 Жыл бұрын
The writing on this is awkward to say the least. Steph doesn't blink at an older *adult* male taking Jessica out for her bday, possibly to a bar called The Bikini, but almost casually asks about whether she feels forced to drink..and then leaves it at that. What?? Sly is an adult.. It is ludicrous that Steph of all the characters would be OK with Jessica in her care, hanging out and going on a date with someone much older than she is. Steph should have been all up in Sly's face about why he is taking out a 16 yo. And as for Eric, he clearly has no clue what's going on (as usual) and sees no problem with a bunch of 18, 19, 20+ year olds throwing a party for his underage niece (he seems more concerned that Dylan isn't dating a model while at this party 🙄). Eric has more interest about Sheila finding his will, than his own niece. The writing on this is poor, poor, poor.
