Loved it too. It was a heart to heart conversation that should have happened month ago. But oh well, brads terrible writing and obession with his work matress. Im not the biggest HT or Taylor fan, but I like her more than brooke/kkl and I think is a pretty okay actress (good enough to play it well off with Susan). I always loved Taylor and Stephanie relationship, although there were turmoil there. They had enormous chemistry.

*Stephanie Forgives Taylor* Another lovely scene with Stephanie and Taylor -- their/mother daughter bond is one of my favorite relationships on the show - and it confirms what I wrote in episode 2029. Stephanie initially rejected Taylor because she felt Taylor was no longer the Good Girl who could keep Ridge away from Brooke. And there’s still some of that fear here with Stephanie reminding Taylor that she’s not acting like her old self (“integrity and ideals” 10:10) and expressing doubt about Ridge choosing her over Brooke (“What if he doesn’t want you back?” 17:12). But the turn in this scene is when Taylor says she never consummated her marriage to Omar and Stephanie’s reaction (9:11) makes that clear. Stephanie has always been a traditionalist and a conservative character, even to the point of s ex ism and gender double standards. When she first learned Taylor had married another man, she assumed that included intimacy and so she saw it as a betrayal of Ridge (which is why she also brought up the James in Big Bear incident). But discovering now that wasn’t the case, that Taylor remained “pure” and faithful to Ridge in Morocco reframes the situation for Stephanie. And that’s why she’s more willing to believe Taylor sacrificed her own happiness for Ridge (11:07). Note the sequential difference: when Taylor first revealed herself to Stephanie, she told her about the sacrifice _first_ and the marriage to Omar _second,_ so that upsetting news is what resonated with Stephanie. The latter undermined the former. But this time Taylor tells Stephanie the truth about her marriage to Omar first _and then_ she brings up her sacrifice. In this way, she reassures Stephanie of her “purity” which then makes her sacrifice seem more legitimate. Taylor is trying to reassure Stephanie that she can still be the Good Wife who will keep Ridge away from Brooke. That’s why the last part of this scene, the part that elicits Stephanie’s forgiveness is Taylor referencing the necklace and recounting her memories of the family. She is placing herself back into the family fold and thus into her old role as Stephanie’s daughter-in-law.

Great post - I was looking forward to your take on this scene! And yes, it was clear that the turning point was Stephanie learning that Taylor never consummated her marriage to Omar. What I do feel that this scene kind of avoided dealing with was the problem of Taylor _taking back_ her sacrifice (which we have discussed earlier as the Achilles heel of this entire storyline), because it felt like the "sacrifice" part actually resonated with Stephanie, and then Taylor negated it by saying that she is only human.

I saw the definite shift when she said they never consummated the marriage. The one thing (of many) Steph couldn't stand Brooke for was her s L * t ways of sleeping with Eric while Steph was still his wife. And then when she found out about Taylor with James in the cabin that made her mad bc Taylor had crossed the line beyond which Steph would not tolerate. I had said from long ago that the writers were still trying to hold on to Taylor's good girl image by not having her sleep with Omar. Had she done that, there would be no coming back / redemption. The thing that makes Brooke a "baddie" (like a toned down version of Lauren on YR), is that she would sleep with anybody if she wanted them, whether they were someone else's husband or not. So Taylor's marriage to Omar isn't so bad after all in Steph's eyes, bc she it hadn't gone that far and was just on paper only. Meanwhile.. Where is old Omar anyway? I'd have love to see Steph barrel out of there and go straight to his hotel and give him a good tongue lashing about tricking Ridge into coming to Morocco and brow beating Taylor with him and Brooke.

Telling Stephanie that Taylor and Omar never consummated that marriage and reminding Stephanie about their happy past, has definitely helped and worked to win Stephanie's forgiveness and friendship. But yes, Stephanie is still sharp and on point. When Taylor mentioned the sacrifice and how she had seen the joy and fulfillment on Ridge's face and had known it was because of the children and that she couldn't destroy that, Stephanie brought up how Taylor was now willing to destroy it. And that then leading to Taylor admitting that she is no martyr and has realized that she can't give up on Ridge and wants him back, that Taylor feels that she hasn't done anything to deserve to be punished by loosing Ridge.

I cannot get over Stephanie's initial surreal cold attitude when she sees Taylor in front of her for the first time. When you love somebody as if she were your own daughter, you are supposed to be so happy about that person not being dead that you should give them all the extenuating circumstances in the context of their ordeal. Had it been any of her other children in Taylor's place, Stephanie would have become their best advocate( the way she had covered for Thorne when he had shot Ridge). Taylor was held hostage and then gaslit. And to add insult to injury, victimised all over again by Brooke who tries to to the same as Omar: convince her that she has no right to have her old life back.

I can understand her initial reaction to a point. What happened was not Taylor's fault. A loved one goes out and does not return, you worry and become exasperated trying to get in tiuch with them, not knowing exatly what has happened. Then, they finally resurface, and while you may be relieved that they're unharmed, its difficltt to see beyond the emotional torture of their absence and to learn that they have been fine for some time and didn't reach out to anyone. Can seem like an intended bad decision.

IMO the circumstances were even more ridiculous than her marriage to Omar. Crazy writing. If it isn't worth mentioning now, I don't see why it was blown out of proportion in 2005. For that matter I can't remember any instance where Brooke came out with her dirty secrets without getting caught.

Another great Performance of SF. Her facial expression and gesture are amazing. She seems to do it so easily , she is a natural and great actress. Hunter did good here. SF helps a lot with her presence and she can uplift peoples acting. Only kkl seems really not to be able/capable to benefit from it. She ruins mostly the scenes with SF.

@@andream5998 It's fine. I was being facetious. We all tune in for SF's marvellous acting work. She is the show. Even the creator understood it and wrote the part with the actress in mind. The show died when she did IMO. There are times when SF broke character and she was acting as herself in certain scenes; but even then, her commanding presence just roped you in and you forgot all about it. Pretty much every other actor on-set took their cues from SF, including KKL who has cited her as a friend and mentor. As for KKL, I do have a soft spot for the actress which most people know about. Do I think she is a terrific actress? Yes and no. She became a better actress over time and with SF's guidance. I don't think the actress fancies herself as Meryl Streep by any means. She is actually quite a humble person and I find that refreshing in a sea of some very uppity actors in Hollywood who think the sun shines out of their fake smiles. And after 37 years I think she deserves recognition for staying power. She's a good sport and that's why I like her.

Taylor returned storyline would of had a significant impact if she mentioned Omar stole my body from the hospital and gave me someone else's identity and I didn't remember anything about my life, my marriage to Ridge, my family, and where I came from, but children of Prince Omar's kept calling me Princess Laila and the first person I remember was Ridge and I tried calling Ridge but I couldn't get through.

in that year the test for Haart therapy starts there is not at that time good anti retroviral drugs to fight hiv at the end of the century the therapy was avaible for everyone and less expensive

Even by 1995, the antiretroviral drugs they had available were experimental and caused other problems. It took at least another decade for science to catch up with better treatments. Nowadays people take for granted how simple it is to take one pill a day and not think twice about it

Hmm in law there would be a time after which a missing person is presumed legall dead and in this case a marriage contract of the spouse of the deceased will be valid. The period would be shorter if this person was in a fatal accident like a plane crash. Pretty sure the US has one of those and both sides couldve saved a lot in fees. Not sure if US law requires in thus situarion like Risge that he acquires a dearh certificate of Taylor before marrying and if so wldnt the law protect future related actions involving an innocent third party. Plus if the judge upholds Ridge’s marriage to Taylor wouldnt this mean Taylor would be also found guilty of polygamy which is not legally allowed in the US?
