Eric: “How dare Thorne take up with a woman half his age!” Me: “Now I *know* the writers are just messing with us for funsies.” Not Rick “Bad-tempered CJ shouldn’t be around My Son TM” man-handling his ex girlfriend and then cold-clocking his brother/mother’s BF. Yikes. Justin Torkildsen is usually mediocre for me as an actor, but he was very realistically menacing in this episode. Even though he’s so weedy and twerpy, I was truly disturbed watching him in the scenes with Kimberly. I 💯 believed he was capable of hitting her or worse then. Even his grabbing at her all was way out of line. She is his ex, she broke up with him outright, and he has no right to dictate to her or interrogate her. He treats women like he owns them (Amber, her) and it progressed from classist and patronizing in previous episodes to downright scary in this one. But kudos to the writers (I know!) because with all the dialogue and reactions we’ve seen from him and Bridget lately, I do feel as a viewer that I understand where this gross possessiveness and attempts to control are coming from. Putting that darkness aside, there were two light moments in the episode for me: 1). Kimberly telling him outright she was going to ride Thorne like a stallion when she wouldn’t even let him cop a feel above of below the waist when they were together. 2). Rick and the aforementioned cold-clocking of Thorne- it honestly would have been more realistic if Rick stood up on a chair and tied Thorne up to hit him. Winsor Harmon is so muscular and tall and Justin Torkildsen is so weedy in comparison that the big hit was just ludicrous.
