Taylor is now trying to drive a wedge between Tim and Morgan just like James tried to do with Mike and Sheila. Both Taylor and James are shrinks and both maneuvers involved playing on the sidekick's jealousy and romantic feelings for the villain.
@annieo65275 ай бұрын
Great catch! (And now I'm missing Sheila and Mike even more.) The difference is, of course, that Sheila and Mike had a well-developed on screen friendship, so we could _believe_ in Mike's loyalty to Sheila. With Tim, we just don't understand why he's so invested in Morgan. He only met her again recently, and prior to that their relationship was professional only (for all we know, since it wasn't shown).
@TriniT215 ай бұрын
@@annieo6527 I made that exact comment under another @Nick post. We are supposed to imagine some off screen interaction Morgan and Tim had some time back in the day... To now believe Tim would stick his neck out for Morgan this way.

Tim Reid wasn't this stupid or clueless on Y&R. This is a complete rewrite and dumbing down of the character and so typical of Brad Bell.
@TriniT215 ай бұрын
Exactly. But clearly he has a thing for redheads. The thing I think that bothers me the most, is _why_ he has such devotion to Morgan. They alluded to him giving her therapy I think back in the day sometime in new York. But that's just it.. Yet another off screen engagement we are supposed to imagine. I just can't relate to Tim's devotion to Morgan, the way I related to Mike's to Sheila bc Mike and Sheila's history (from the time they met) happened on screen. That also made Mike and Sheila a much more relatable and even rootable duo. I sometimes even rooted for Mike to have Sheila finally pay him some attention and maybe even care for him. With Tim, I could care less.
@sharonstewart48825 ай бұрын
Yes thank you! He wasn't this lame of a character on Y&R. He was actually intelligent! How could he think he and Morgan would just be able to live happily ever after after releasing Taylor?? 🥴
@annieo65275 ай бұрын
@@TriniT21 I just commented the same thing! Tim's devotion to Morgan simply doesn't ring true, as there has been no on-screen justification for it. All of it relies on us piecing together an off screen backstory between them.

Yes! And at this point we're left wondering why she even bothered to kldnap Steffy in the first place. It seems that if anything, Steffy is an obstacle to Morgan getting together with Ridge. Morgan's plan could be to raise Steffy as her daughter, or to win back Ridge, but it _can't be both_ because these two objectives are mutually excIusive. This is never addressed in the writing.

Interesting how it takes a couple of months for the Amber/Deacon relationship to develop versus how it takes three episodes for Brooke and Deacon to fall in love and in bed together. It's the distinction between the Brad Bell who at least tries to thoughtfully develop a potential supercouple and one he haphazardly puts together for shock value.
@joonaa27513 ай бұрын
I feel the sudden [SPOILER ALERT FOR NEW VIEWERS] insta-breakup of Throoke in mid-2001 is where the writing quality really starts to sink. Mid-99 thru mid-01 is actually my favorite segment of the show after the classic 1987-1993 years. Not as well written as that classic era, but it feels like Brad finds his own niche in campy over-the-top storytelling. But later on, Brad takes it too far with Breacon (which turns the show into so-bad-it’s-good-territory) and Ridget (which turns it into garbage), and later makes the mistake of course-correcting things too far by making the show boring, rather than just reverting to his circa-2000 style.
