It's telling that Rick's family goes over to warn Deacon to stay away from Amber, not Rick himself. JT just isn't a strong actor and doesn't have much screen presence and the character of Rick is a twerp. So instead the show is setting up a Deacon vs Eric dynamic which at least involves two solid actors and will lead to the storyline involving Bridget. And you can see why just in this episode: the confrontation between Deacon and Eric was more explosive than any scene with Deacon and Rick.

Absolutely! I've mentioned it before but I think Jacob Young would have handled this material much more effectively. I can picture a fiery confrontation between JY's Rick and Deacon. In comparison, Sean Kanan would grind JT into dust.

Kyle Lowder would have also been a better adversary for Deacon. It just doesn't feel man to man with Justin Torkildsen.

@@staceygash9421 it's true. Kyle Lowder knows how to dial up the intensity. What I like about JY is that he can be both intense and charismatic, which makes him a good match for SK. It's something I missed with Kyle's performance. It was all intensity all the time.

@leviaj1 That's a true point! I feel like Deacon needs the match of intensity because that is his characters strongest trait(defense mechanism). He came on the show with it. Kyle is more intense. The rest of the men on the show don't have that. They at least let Eric have some intensity and alpha male traits for this scene. Either Kyle Lowder or JY would have been a formidable match for SK.

We had Rick and CJ not just competing for Amber, but competing to be little Eric's dad. The little boy has to be confused with all that father figures. But now it seems as if the boy really has bonded with his bio dad Deacon and Deacon is the one referred to as "daddy", regardless of all the fighting and -failed- agreements.

How all you people can be so not in touch with what's going on. The only person who is right about this situation is Brooke who tried to protect her son. She didn't go about it the right way of course but she will change. Now begins her misery with her daughter but the totally failed marriage of son and the pain he will go through not forgetting her pain with Bridget will spark the relationship and her filings for Ridge not now but very soon.
