This episode makes it perfectly clear that the ones trying to take away someone's child are actually _Rick and Brooke._ Deacon has a right to see his own children. Amber has parental rights to Eric, and Deacon had an agreement with her to visit with his own son. Rick is sabotaging Little Eric's visit with his biological father, in spite of Rick not having custody, or any legal rights at all, to the boy. This is an enormous injustice that is being done to Deacon, _and_ to his children.

Rick is just as selfish as his mother. He's certainly not interested in little Eric, just to demonstrate power to Deacon. That's what his mother taught him.

@@annieo6527 the thing that gets me is, this forever attempt to make Brooke appear as a good mother, when if you really look at it, she's not. She kept both Eric's kids from him in the sense that she insisted on being a single parent if Ridge wasn't going to act as their father (and dumb Eric went along with that, even to the point of berating Ridge for actually wanting to leave Brooke so he could go be a father to his real child with Taylor. You'd swear Rick and bridgit didn't have an actual live father the way they were all acting like they'd be fatherless). And of course we have ventilated on how little Brooke ever knows what's going in her own children's lives bc it's always Steph who is helping them while Brooke goes thru whatever "crisis" she has at the time. The crux of this new issue with Deacon is the fact that this new child came about bc of an affair she willingly had with her daughter's husband. She's not trying to keep Deacon away bc of bridgit, bc as far as she's concerned she apologised for that and it's over. She's keeping him away bc it would first ruin her chance with Ridge and secondly she just feels like he should disappear so everyone could just forget about it. It really isn't like Brooke cares that much about her kids. Look bridgit is still in hospital and she's busy going on dates and still playing the victim. The fact that she even left her daughter at the hospital at all says alot. And it's a small point, but I notice that after Brooke basically ran out in her wedding, she hasn't once gone to Ridge's kids, who basically asked her to marry their dad and be a family with them (after much consternation), to say anything to them. She not only rejected Ridge but his kids as well. With no thought to them. That's the kind of woman Ridge wants raising his kids?

😂 What about Eric.. Eric to Thorne the other day : YOU'RE MY SON.. 🫂🤗 Also Eric : proceeds to constantly talk about Ridge, think about Ridge, run Ridge down to control who he sees, knows all about Ridge's life, still mad at Steph bc Ridge isn't his son... Not one convo with Thorne about what's going on with him or knowledge that he's going to be a grandpa... Hasn't even done so much as given Thorne a little office obbthe executive floor. Poor Thorne... 😂

I side with Deacon 100%. That he is excluded from his children's lives is unacceptable. Rick is unreasonable only because is jealous and Brooke?? She would like to erase her mistake erasing Deacon's parental rights? She's so wrong, in fact, Hope will suffer from this, she will end up having issues with the relationship with Liam and going to a shrink only to become pills addicted. And this is only Brooke's fault. I wish the writers had not let Brooke get away with it.

And Brooke gets to keep full custody of Hope while Amber, who is the only one being reasonable here, ends up losing Little Eric.

Everything you said 💯 All Brooke wants to do is erase those parts of her life she'd rather forget. And Rick needs to cut Deacon some slack.. It's his fault Deacon is even in their lives anyway since he went to look for him. He was hoping to dictate to Deacon then about his parental rights with his child, and is trying to do the same now.

The scene where Thorne signs the annuIment papers at Macy's requests is an inversion of the 2000 storyline, where Thorne was the one asking for a divorce and Macy at first didn't want to sign the papers, then agreed in Big Bear because she loved him and thought it would make him happy. Here, Thorne signs the papers and agrees to let Macy go because he loves her and thinks it's what's best for her. Ironically, Thorne agreeing to end the marriage may be the most selfIess and loving thing he has done for Macy in a very long time. Tragically, they are obviously still in love, Thorne actually _did not_ betray Macy, and what motivates Macy to end the marriage is not her feelings of anger, but her _fear_ of becoming what she became in 2000. She loves Thorne and wants a life with him, but not at the expense of losing her sobriety and her mind. So even if she might be able to forgive Thorne, she simply can't risk the stress of watching him raise a child with Darla while she will never have a child of her own with Thorne. The sad part is that in retrospect, it would have been better for everyone if Macy had been able to overcome those feelings of fear and betrayal, stay with Thorne, and adopt the baby. Macy would have had a child, she would not have ended up dead, and the whole tragedy of Darla's and Aly's deaths might not have happened either. Instead, Macy made the only choice she could live with, but she, Darla, and the child all die.

I have to go further back but at the time when Deacon got involved with Bridget and used her (to break up Rick and Amber), Deacon already told Bridget that the Forresters don't allow him to see his son (3548).

Yeah, it seemed this visitation matter depended on the Forrester's goodwill. In 2001 we had Rick and Eric talking about that Deacon would be able to see his son AFTER the Rick-Amber wedding but not until then. ep 3545 Eric: *_All right, he gets to visit his son once in a while_* Amber: More than once in a while, Mr Forester. It is killing him to be away from that little boy and Eric has gotten so close to him too. It would be wrong, it would be so wrong to prevent Eric from seeing him. Eric: As long as he stays away until after the wedding. ep 3546 Deacon: I think I made a big mistake letting you go. I played right into their hands and what did I get for it, Amber? Huh I got nothing. *_I got to wait till the Foresters give me an invitation to see my own son_* ep. 3547 Amber: He doesn't trust you now. *_Don't you see, the only reason why he signed that document was because he thought he could visit Eric. Now he thinks it's never going to happen_* Rick: *_He can see Eric after the wedding_*

Is “Brooke’s pint-sized henchman” Rick, to quote Deacon, really using *Jonathan* to take down Deacon? Am I the only one who remembers that a few years prior Jonathan allegedly had a team of his best lawyers working feverishly to nail down Little Eric’s adoption, and Deacon basically picked some guy out of a phonebook, waltzed in, and just took the kid? Good luck with that one, guys. Still, I do enjoy Jonathan’s new Snidely Whiplash mustache. Interesting that Amber has been the voice of reason the past few episodes, cautioning that allowing Deacon controlled access to his kids is the better path. She’s right, yet when Rick’s and later Brooke’s high-handed methods backfire, leading Amber to spiral, she’ll get all the blame. Because Brooke and anyone acting as her proxy can never be wrong.

There's something incredibly poignant about these scenes between Thorne and Macy. Unlike with Ridge and Brooke who will experience many more marriages and divorces, this really is the end for Thorne and Macy. As with life, some supercouples weren't meant to last. If only Ridge and Brooke could get that message.
@annieo6527

And it doesn't feel like it _should_ be the end, since some things are never resolved, like the fact that Thorne actually _didn't_ cheat on Macy with her best friend. He was _taken ad van tage of_ by Macy's best friend. This is the one time when Thorne _doesn't_ deserve for Macy to leave him.

Rick and Amber aren't bad parents, but that still doesn't mean that Deacon as the child's bio father should be excluded from his life. If the reason they're using why Deacon is an inappropriate parent, is that he hurt bridgit, then same can be said of Brooke and she shouldn't have custody either. Honestly, Deacon shouldn't be begging.. This needed to go to court.. Not Brooke and Rick acting as judge and jury
