Bold and the Beautiful - 2003 (S17 E31) FULL EPISODE 4165

Jackie tells Nick he shouldn’t run from his feelings for Brooke but Nick tells her not to hold out any hope for a future for him and Brooke. Massimo enters and tells Nick he should stay with his family and start a family of his own, but Nick says that won’t happen. Brooke and Ridge find out she’s pregnant- Ridge is thrilled, Brooke is thrown. Ridge assumes she’s wary because of what they went through at Sheila’s hands and suggests they go see her doctor. An irate Sally tells Clarke everything has been stolen from her- and she blames Brooke. She is horrified by how Brooke has redecorated her old office. Clarke backs off, leaving Sally to find the pregnancy test. She feels the injustice of Brooke having a baby and vows revenge. Dr. Paxson confirms Brooke is pregnant. Left alone, Brooke tells herself the baby has to be Ridge’s.

Its funny how you people twist things around just like Sally wanting to blame someone for her heartache. See how she just jumps to conclusions. First ridge brought brooke into the spectra business. Ridge named it logan designs and ridge built the steam room for brooke as a surprise. Notice how she says it must have been Brooks idea being wrong again. Now she will find out brooke's secret with nick. But low and behold however she tries good always prevails in the end. The baby turns out to be ridges. Ha ha ha

Again we see the contradiction in what the writing tells us vs what it shows us, so often the case with Brooke. Yesterday, Sally warns Massimo that Brooke will ruin his family and reminds Stephanie of Brooke’s perfidy. Today, she bemoans the unfairness of Brooke’s pregnancy. And through it all, Sally is clearly meant to be the bitter and evil one, while Brooke is once again the innocent victim (with Nick taking the blame for the whole incident). The problem is that Sally is *right*. Brooke has already engaged in a betrayal that will, as predicted, drive a wedge among the Marone men. And it is undoubtedly unfair that Macy was barren and died in a terrible accident, while selfish Brooke gets pregnant at the drop of a hat (trousers).

@@FayeIL Sally is being written out of character (not reacting nearly enough to Macy's death) just so there can be an antagonist for Brooke. She is the last in a long Iine of characters who has been sacrificed this past year to benefit Brooke's storyline - Taylor, Stephanie, Bridget, Amber, Macy, and now Sally.

That's destiny it should teach you something. There is a difference in having a good heart but always getting mixed up in scandals because you maybe weak and follow your heart. But its different to have real hate in you and make an evil scheme to bring down your enemy. In the end life is fair and you get what you deserve. Macy hated brooke for taking thorn and directed all that hate towards her. Before hear death she let go of that. Stephanie will do the same. Despite Sally's efforts she will not succeed.

Brooke is a prime example of a narcissistic personality through and through, and that sort of thing is toxic. I would never want to have a person like that near me - apart from the fact that then no man in the family would be safe anymore. Excusing everything by saying follow “your heart” further emphasizes inconsideration towards other people.

Sally seems to be addressing the writers directly in this episode ("all you guys up there in charge of destiny"), calling them out on what she (rightfully) perceives as unfair writing directed at her and her family. Sally's comment that "someone's been playing with Ioaded dice" is _exactly_ what this feels like. In fact, it's felt like that for the past year, even since Taylor died - place your bets on anyone but Brooke, and you lose. The storytelling actually feels like the writers are playing with Ioaded dice. It also connects Sally to the scene where Oscar asked Macy to sing at the club by saying "are you ready to roII the dice with me?" - he was asking her to rely on *chance,* on Iuck that the Spectras _don't have,_ because the *design* of the fictional universe is against them. ​@@NewYorkNick0607thank you Nick! 😊 There is less and less material to analyze these days, and most of the time it becomes a question of trying to make sense of inconsistent writing, rather than reading what is actually there. The fundamental psychological realism is gone. I wrote somewhere else that in these episodes, Sally feels like the last remaining uninfected human in a zombie apocalypse movle.

Keep living in your dream world. The things sally says in the soap are written for her to say She doesn't say them from her mind. She is referring to luck and god being on brooke's side or destiny if you want. I think we make our own destiny. Why would the writers contradict themselves. This is just the usual blah blah you people go on because you hate the actress and the character.

But I do feel that Sally's character was treated unfairly - always losing, always having B storylines, and here she is being made to look like a cartoon character out to get Brooke instead of the writers letting her mourn the loss of her daughter. I think it's perfectly possible that whoever wrote this dialogue is not the same writer who controIs the big picture. The head writer usually doesn't write the individual episodes.

The scene with Clarke and Sally, like the Sally/Massimo scene in the previous episode, makes little sense. One would expect Clarke, who is virtually a member of the family, to be more sympathetic towards Sally given the circumstances. It is almost crueI the way Sally wanders aimlessly from person to person and from place to place like a ghost looking for support and understanding (Stephanie, Massimo, and now Clarke) and everywhere she goes, everyone else has moved on with their lives and is expecting Sally to do the same. Sally's reaction at seeing her office altered (and Macy's desk removed), a visible reminder that her world as she knew it is gone, is heartbreaking.

Clark should be more sympathetic but he always has been an opportunist. Clark being grateful didn't keep him from cheating on his wife Sally with Kristen Forrester and then still expecting to walk away from his marriage with half of Sally's company. It didn't keep him from taking advantage of Sally's state (being drunk) and making Sally sign a contract that she sells her company to Massimo/Ridge. Clark might have designed the perfect wedding gown for Macy, but no, Sally should never just blindly trust Clark again.

I get that Clarke is a cad and very selfish, but he's grown as a character and been so very close to Sally and Macy, that I find it hard to believe that he's just so unconcerned about Sally losing her daughter and her company.

Eric gave her a lab, then thanks to Connor she took away the patent and the company of course, because the patent was not enough. Now Ridge gave her another company. She is not a self made woman.
