I watched this storyline when I was a teen. I was 100% on Hope's side, but as an adult woman, I honestly think Steffy was the right woman for Liam. Hope was far too self absorbed to have a serious romantic relationship. She was very childish and self righteous. While Steffy was absolutely shady about the way she got Liam, she really was more of a woman and understood what a balanced relationship means.

I agree with you. Hope wasn't mature enough. Hope wanted the typical suburban life. Get married, have kids, white picket fence. The works. Steffy on the other hand was unconventional. She was a wild child. She was adventurous. A free spirit. She wasn't afraid to take risks. That's what Liam liked about her and even when he was with Hope he subconsciously craved that. Hence the reason why he kept on going back to Steffy. He couldn't rid himself of her.

Sarah Kelaita thank you!!! When I saw the scene when he proposed to Steffy and had sex with Steffy, pissed me off. I was always pissed at Liam (the man) more so than Steffy because he could have said no. It doesn’t matter if she manipulated the situation to actually marry Liam, she didn’t actually stop the Gondola, Bill did. She didn’t force Hope to take off her ring and then force Liam to ask her to marry him. Hope gets pissed at Liam at kissing Steffy, rightfully so but instead of confronting him she runs away. Then the next day she wants him back. She is like a child sometimes when she throws a toy away and when someone else want it then she wants it back. The guilty party is Liam and then Hope. If their relationship was so strong then Steffy couldn’t come between them.

What I like about Steffy is she doesn't care if everything is perfect. She knows Liam is on the rebound. Doesnt care. It does bother her that Liam gave her the same ring he gave Hope, but she still accepts it cause she doesnt care about the materialistic things. All she knows here is that she loves Liam and she wants to be with him, rather that comes in a perfect bow or not. Meanwhile Hope throws a tantrum if anything in her world is not 100% perfect. My biggest issue with Ron Moss' portrayal of Ridge is that his version of the character always sided with Brooke's children over Steffy and Thomas and almost never considered their feelings and point of view about anything (if you discount Phoebe's death). He's an excellent actor, don't get me wrong, but that factor in his character arc was always frustrating to watch. Thorsten Kaye's version of Ridge is much better ar putting his family first and would do just about anything for his kids. He's still a douche when it comes to women, but undoubtedly a great dad.
