The enemy begging is actually a mechanic in the game. When you have one enemy left and injure them without killing, they can start begging for mercy like that. Crazy they added it to the show.

I mean, it's really just a mechanic of life lol. Pretty much most everyone is gonna plead and beg like that I'd someone has their life on their hands and they know it's about to end.

The song cover at the end of this episode is sung by Lotte Kestner, NOT Ashley. Ashley sung the game trailer cover version. You can hear the difference

I love the tiny Chef Boyardee moment. A tiny glimpse into humans holding onto comfort from before the apocalypse. None of us would say Chef Boyardee is good, but twenty years without it? The ease of just warming up some mediocre food? Sounds like a luxury. This is taking place in America. Of course the brands we identify with now would be iconic of a time long gone.

Nice touch on utilizing the name system for Bryan from The Last of Us Part II where the enemies will call out their friends names as you kill them. And Bryan begging for his life is also a mechanic from the games where if you kill enough people or are doing a good enough job one of the enemies will beg you to spare them. The highlights of the episode were the jokebook and the porno mag. These are basically Last of Us staples 😂 That diarrhea joke at the end was actually good and them laughing at it together was a great bonding moment. Jeffrey Pierce, who played Tommy in the games, was a nice addition. He plays Perry, the lieutenant. He has such a great voice and he looks so different from when he worked on the games.

I actually really love how the violence is being treated in this show, even tho I miss the crazy sequences sometimes, it will surely make some later choices even more meaningful. Also love the song choice for the credits, reminded me of TLOU Part 2 which is always good.
@DirtSpud Жыл бұрын
I agree. With the second game they really leaned into humanizing the people you were slaughtering and made their deaths more meaningful tying it more to the theme. While there are moments it is kind of on the nose in TLOU2, I really enjoyed it. So I'm glad they are working it into the show as well. BUT that Sam and Henry reveal at the end? Ooohhh excited for that. My favorite side story in the game.

The bridge with the sunken boats around it is the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Wheeling, West Virginia that connects to Bellaire Ohio. that’s I-470 which will connects to I-70 W. 74 miles later in Zanesville Ohio where that Love’s / Arby’s sign that is shown. I have driven that route many times. I don’t know if they had an Arby’s deal or not, but that sign does exist in real life.

The trouble with the Truck is all 4 tires are shredded, so its basically worthless now unless they were on the side of the we-the-people group. Joel knew it wasn't worth it since the Truck was, at this point, just a Trap to catch them and was probably already looted.

5:30 Its funny when you think about it. IHe says its 20 years old, that means that Bill and Frank had it for at least that long and never had the need to eat the canned food. Such spoiled old men! That is if that is part of the supplies they took and brought with them, or if they haven't found them before that.

Just an interesting note: Kathleen’s (Melanie Lynskey) righthand man, Perry, is portrayed by actor Jeffrey Pierce, who in the games did voice and motion capture for Joel's brother Tommy.

In the game there is combat after they crash the car and one bandit smashes Joel’s head through a window, which joel uses the same window to slice the bandits neck. I feel like that kid could’ve died to a window 😂 also he probably used a knife so that the noise wouldn’t attract infected and more bandits

Not every time a product is mentioned was it paid for. It's just called being realistic. If someone smoked some Red Apple cigarettes it would take you out of the world since you're like "what the fuck? those wouldn't exist, why can't they just say whatever it is that they're actually smoking/eating/drinking/whatever?" When you write a story you do it based on what exists, so when you write a story maybe you have Arby's in there because it happens to be your favorite restaurant. It's just a pet-peeve of mine when people gripe about shit like this that doesn't at all matter. Though it'd be a different story if the characters started dialogue from a commercial about a product or something, obviously that's bullshit.
@DarkKnight2037 Жыл бұрын
In the game it is still a big deal. But Joel, because he's annoyed that Ellie had to do it, he tells her off for being there, when she was meant to be waiting while he got to her. From what i got from it, he felt a bit embarraassed it got upto that sitation and that Ellie had to do that. They later do cover it and Joel tries to comfort her about it, because he feels bad about how he reacted to her about it and understood how it actually felt for her to be in that position. BUt yeah, i would say not as focused on as in the show

Bella Ramsey is brilliant, I thought she was a kid; SHE IS 19 years old ..that's why... They do that in Hollywood; hire an actor that looks too young for their age to play a child; you wanna work with a mature mind but young-looking body. Ever wondered why many child actors end up being short adults? They were picked as child actors because they were small for their age...

4:45 You really don't want to get into the ethical and moral questions about what and what is not a sandwich restaurant and what is an Arby's let alone "is Arby's even classified as fast food?".
