Hi Andy, Kev and me are looking for a change from the Saturday Canons trip. We’re thinking of trying Clattercotes. Have you any advice on location, baits and tactics at this time of year. Anything that swims is our target.

Hi Chris Most tactics work well at Clattercote, blasting maggots and waggler fishing will catch you anything that swims. Pellet waggler is good for carp, pole fishing with micros and corn will catch you a few tench, and fishing the feeder is always worthwhile for a mixed bag. The dam wall is obviously the deep end (around 14 feet if memory serves me right) the far end with the islands is the shallower water, and fishing up to ones of the islands will always get you a few fish, but I would opt for half way down either side. Fish the left bank (looking down the res) if its going to be hot, because it's shady, fish the right side if its colder because you will get some sun. Tight lines and enjoy your day. I will give you a shout when the re-stocking has taken place at Canons 👍

Over 50's? I should think that must apply to most of the members then Andy! 😂 Seriously, it is a shame more youngsters don't seem to find a hobby in Angling these days. Outdoors activities for the younger generation today simply revolves around Skateboarding...

Hi Duncan, that's very true. The only youngsters that come into the sport either take up carp fishing or match fishing on commercial venues. It's very much like Last of the Summer Wine with us lot but we do have a lot of laughs 😃
