Interesting, but I feel I only got have the story...who maintains it now? What happened to Mr. Boldt? Were the items in the castle his or donated/bought by historical associations? Like hearing a long joke and the guy forgets the punchline.

Thousand Islands Bridge Authority is who operates it now. After seeing the video I did some research. It definitely is interesting as it is so close and yet a world away from anything I would build or just casually stay a night in. The original owner just didn't want to finish the ice cream when the bird pooped on it. He went on to a different life and eventually died from a heart attack.

The castle was abandoned at his wife’s death, the furnishings are of the era not Boldt’s. When I first toured the castle for a school trip very little was done and the years of graffiti was still in many visible areas. The TI authority has done a tremendous job with it in the last 40 years.

I wonder if from the afterlife he regrets not giving the money away to help the destitute ...

If you think about the people he hired to build what was.. he paid a lot of people Maybe you should look up his history.

@@cynthiamerrick2335 . I don't think you understand how money supply and economics work. Wealth is built on the backs of others. The more "wealth" someone has the less wealth other people have. Money is nothing more than ownership of labor.

@@MrSupernova111 The electronic device you hold in your hands was built “on the backs of others”. Careful with the socialist agenda. Entrepreneurs, risk takers, and Capitalistic endeavors are the reason you have nice things.

@@pyootchnich . Socialist agenda? Do yourself a favor and stop regurgitating nonsense. I have a degree in finance with a minor in statistics. If you don't think money is the ownership of labor then WTF is it? If you have nobody to hand your money to then what is it worth? If as an American you think you live in a capitalistic system you would be horribly mistaken. Our economic system is closer to feudalism than to capitalism. This time be sure to use a dictionary before you regurgitate more nonsense.
