Bolens HT20 Rototiller and Blade

Since the Bolens HT20 is up and running, I have some time on my hands to work on the rototiller and the front blade.

It looks like your tiller was extended with one extra set of tines on the left side. Nice.

Good eye! Yes, this Rototiller has been extended off to the left with a set of extra tines. It works well. Maybe not the best thing for the main bearing, but so far it's okay. Cheers.

Still looks like new does that have dual hydraulic outputs

It sure does, thanks! Yes, this tractor has dual hydraulic couplers upfront and in the rear. It'll supply the hydraulic cylinder with oil to pivot the front blade. Best regards

Also what does fmc mean before the bolens sticker on the plow that thing has nice attachments but I can’t find any near me that don’t cost an arm and a lego of money

FMC stands for FMC Corporation, which is a chemical manufacturing company. They were involved in the Bolens back in the day. Keep your eyes open on marketplace that may need some work. There are always deals here and there. Best regards

Hey man, just wondering if you could help me figure out something, I want to modify the existing Bolens 54" blade I have to be used on my John Deere 318, and add full hydraulic capability (using the deck left arms to lift the blade and a dedicated cylinder for the angle. Do you think it would be an easy modification?

Hello, it's hard to say if I can help, but I know with effort it is possible on your end to get your blade working on your JD318. Looking at the Bolens blade frame, there are certain hookup points which need to be put in place on the JD318. The hookup points will allow the blade to lower and raise the correct height. Another thing that is critical is to figure out if the cylinder on your JD318 is the same like an a Bolens. If not, your blade will not have the same amount of travel (up & down) like on a Bolens, but you would like to have a certain amount! I all is good, you should look at the position of your cylinder, find out if you can tie in a linkage to the blade frame, after that look to weld some brackets onto your JD frame for the pivot points of the blade. This may be a long process as you need to have brackets right up to the two main frame rails! You can either weld them or bold them on. If you decide to bolt them on, only do so on the side of the frame rails. This is the strongest part of your frame. If you need any other advice, send me an email.
