Brave & well worth the time to listen. Just amazed at all the plastic unique instruments. I can’t imagine the skill needed to tune these instruments, especially the sax. I make mistakes in my performances and work them into a routine. Most people appreciate talents such as these young people. Keep on! You are great!
The NUVO j-Sax only has 1-1/2 octaves (C to high G in the next octave). Yamaha Venona has 2 full octaves, ,C C and 'C.

Well, these are obviously very capable musicians getting all they can out of the instruments. And yes, there are intonation problems. But the true purpose of many of the plastic instruments is to affordably help children get involved in playing a musical instruments. Considering they can take a beating by children, all things considered, they are fairly decent.

i think it's more that the quality of plastic instruments varies kinda widely (and it's ofc hard to tell how much of that has to do with the skill level of the players). for example, the yamaha venova and tiger instruments sound quite nice to my ears, but the nuvo jsax is pretty bad. personally im surprised how good the intonation is in general on these, considering how cheap most of them are.

Yes, there are no short-cuts to music even with amazing plastic contrivances like the jSax and Venova. You still must practice. They both have real reed mouthpieces to control.
@camelCased6 жыл бұрын
That's a shame about jSax because most of Amazon reviewers say that jSax feels much easier to play in tune than Venova, and some of them returned Venova to keep jSax. But in other jSax videos it sounds much better.

I wonder if they're all intonated for the same A. You can tune each instrument a few cents to get to the same A, but then intonation inevitably suffers.

some of the instruments sound good the aerophone doesnt really make sound too much, its usually a midi instrument btw. it has speakers, but those are not its main features and the clarineo and jsax are meant for beginners who need to learn the basics on a cheap instrument first

What a wonderfully horrid idea. It's hard enough to play on good instruments. I commend the young lady on Trombone though..... that's a really challenging solo.... and plastic horns don;t respond in that octave nearly as well as brass. A very good effort for such a young group. I've heard pros play it worse.

You all seem like fine players, and I’ll give it a thumbs up for the experiment. There is clearly a reason that orchestras don’t use plastic instruments. I am disturbed that so many people seem impressed with the sound of the plastic. No offense if you’re someone that likes the tone, but I think you haven’t heard enough instrumental music to know what you’re missing. Thank you all for confirming my impression of plastic instruments.

Tiger seems to be the only company to make plastic brass sound bearable. Too bad that it's more expensive than most normal trumpets
@kaizokuAUTO5 жыл бұрын
@@drogoburrows8805 Yeah, from what I've briefly researched they seem to go for around the 350 dollar mark. At that price, you could very easily find an excellent Yamaha YTR student model, or you might be able to stretch and find a old Stradivarius or Xeno precursor. I mean, my Strad flugel only cost me £400 so that's not that far off. Plastic instruments in general are definitely faddy.

tiger is a really good plastic brass brand, and brass instruments sound ain't that reliant on the material they're made of compared to woodwinds also the clarineo or the j sax dont use real wood reeds, but rather plastic proprietary ones, that are way more out of tune than a normal wood reed like the one on the yamaha venova, that's why the venova sound good too but yeah plastic brass is usually not as horrible than plastic woodwinds hope that solves ur question
@NigelRamses Жыл бұрын
@@pollosasadosalcarbon The timbre of a brass instrument is very much impacted by the material of construction. There are three predominant types of brass used - independently or in combination with one another - precisely because they alter the tonality of the instrument.
The idea is great ... Nuvo Sax, the tuning was a little unstable ... it could be the plastic reed, or the original Jsax mouthpiece is not very regular! You need to improve this issue on Jsax, if you could put a mouthpiece by Soprano Sax, maybe the sound improves ... Venova was great, but I realized that the mouthpiece is not the original of the instrument, it looks like a soprano sax mouthpiece combined with a bamboo reed ... this makes a lot of difference ... the other instruments were good !!!
