Upd8; my H8 Rex is now CLA’d. Found the trio of bespoke RX primes. Included were accessories resulting in exact same setup as urs. Tho big fun accessorising, must remember the use 2 which I’ll put it .. animation experiments .. uno, with one of those Titlers.

Hi You have a question I had for a long time. From what you say, we cannot shoot while using the reflex finder…We must use the side finder. I have been shooting 8mm with my D8 LA 3 lens turret. lovely camera too. Thank you for your video😊

I am looking to buy one of these, since it gives about 12 minutes of footage for 100ft I think it will be very good and economic for cinematography, thank you for sharing

Yes, and this format is very comfortable at home; not too bright, fairly quiet projectors. And it may be scanned at 4 k

Thanks and way to go! BTW, it is called FILM making if you project them. But probably videography if you scan them.

I screwed up the exposure making the video. Light was 320-1 block and I transposed it to 320+1 block. Underexposed. The next shot was corrected after I saw the error in the video review.

Michael, very helpful content. As I transition from film cameras to 8mm movie cameras I wonder if these Bolex movie cameras suffer from light leaks like old film cameras do. If not, great, if they do, would you have a video explaining where on the Bolex these are most likely to occur and how you would repair them? Thanks.

If the door had been dropped and bent then light would leak around it, use tape around it

@@MichaelCarter OK so there is no foam sealant around the doors like on film cameras that deteriorate over time. Thanks. My “new to me” Bolex B8 hasn’t arrived yet and I was just curious. As far as I can tell the Bolex B8 I purchased is in very good condition.

Keep a filter holder in the slot if there is one on the camera like on a RX 4 H16

The footage counter and the frame counter do not match because the film is loaded in the dark and pictures are taken with the counter set below zero or before the zero start of the counter. I set the frame counter to zeros after I load the camera in the dark with about a foot of film wasted to become black leader. The film is reversed for projection.
