Probably would have been nice to put cardboard down around the Bullard to keep from getting yellow paint on the asphalt but other then that GREAT Job Jeff

Are these ones stronger than the ones you can buy to bolt down?
@JeffLepard5 жыл бұрын
Normally the ones you install with concrete are stronger but the bolt down ones are fine as well they serve its purpose.
@umlax453 жыл бұрын
Bolt down post's are weak. They work well for forklifts or something that makes contact with the post 12" from the ground. A car hits higher, adding leverage on the bolts and the plate and they don't perform well

Was after the post painting tips - Yellow safety paint needed any other tips - need to sand ?
@umlax453 жыл бұрын
I don't sand mine unless it's bad rust. I'm in LA, so they get stickers and hit, so paint just has to be yellow and stick blol. There are also covers
@umlax453 жыл бұрын
Using gravel at the base helps. Drop the post in on top of 3" of gravel. If it's too low, dunp some more into the post or around it and lift it up until they natch in height.

Hey man sorry if my past comments sounded like a asshole but seriously read this one. we use the Stihl wet/dry 420 saws, idk what yours is but I'm sure it's wet/dry too and we always use water to reduce clean up. Our jobsite is real busy with customers and cars at all times so all that dust wouldn't be good at all, we use a construction trash can 55 gal on wheels,of course and a sump pump. And we have one man cutting and one man running a shop vac getting the concrete slurry up as soon as it comes out. Makes the clean up almost non existent.
@JeffLepard5 жыл бұрын
Not a problem! I agree this was a TS 400 saw. Normally when I run this saw and there's no water around I use a portable tank to keep the dust down. Same thing for my diamond core cut walk behind saw. This location wasn't so bad it was far away from vehicles or people. Thanks so much for watching!
@umlax453 жыл бұрын
Nice, yeah the dust is nasty from these saws. I use a 30 gallon barrel for h2o and a 2gal/min pump to feed the saw. Generator powers the shop vac which I empty into another barrel and let it settle and dry before disposal. Also allows for reclamation of water off the top of the barrel for mixing concrete or cleaning tools. Bollards are hard work, props for doing it all by hand except the saw.

How much would it cost for a repair like this?
@5.7Hemi4x44 жыл бұрын
The edge of my property is next to a highway, we're talking about semi trucks going 80 if not more. What would you recommend to add something like this but keeping it esthetically pleasing?
@JeffLepard4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. The only thing I could think of is a bollard unless you are installing something different like a massive rock or some kind of landscape. There's also some really nice bollard covers and custom covers you can buy to slip over the bollard as well. Really a tough decision for you I guess as to what to do.
@umlax453 жыл бұрын
The cost of bollards that can stop 80,000 lbs @ 80mph would be extremely expensive.

@JeffLepard5 жыл бұрын
It probably took about 8 hours total split over 2 days.

@@JeffLepard 8 hours split between 2 days for this man????!!! What!?? Last week we installed 8 bollards in one 14 hour day. Cut 14 inch square, jackhammered through asphalt/concrete, dug down 52 inches, set it, came back and capped it with a nice brushed finish. Why on Earth did it take you so long to do one bollard?

You need to take some pride in your work, I don't care if it's in a alley details bro. To much water in the concrete mix, could of used rock base to level the two ballerds, use tack to not only bond the asphalt but seal your edges when your done and at least use cardboard to protect your new asphalt from that yellow paint.

My older videos I was pronouncing it wrong I know! My new channel in all of my videos its correct! The client in the video wanted to save money and have it the most cost effective method. Normally, I use my line painter with either traffic paint or a high gloss paint if they want that.
