⚜ Shiva is one of the main gods from the Hindu God Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva). Literally translated, Shiva means "the loving" or "the auspicious". Shiva's wife is Parvati and his sons are Subrahmanya and Ganesha. His mount is the bull Nandi. It is symbolically represented with the Linga. He lives on the holy mountain Kailasa in the Himalayas and is considered the Uryogi, who has given people the wisdom of Hatha Yoga. Shiva is the destroyer, symbol of impermanence, lack of arrest and dissolution. Shiva as Nataraja, Cosmic Dancer, symbolizes the dance of life, the constant becoming and passing away. Shiva also symbolizes the infinite, the eternal, the highest consciousness. Shiva means "the kind", "the loving", "the auspicious". Shiva is a name of God, a certain aspect of God. Shiva has so many different meanings as a word. Shiva also means happiness, love, wellbeing. So Shiva is an aspect of God, the God of Yogis, he is pure cosmic consciousness. Shiva is also called Shankara, the beneficent, the beneficiary, the Shambhu, the compassionate. All of this is Shiva. And on the one hand Shiva is God as love. Shiva is also the cosmic consciousness from which Shakti comes out and creates the world. Shiva is also an aspect of Ishwara, the destructive aspect. Shiva is Nataraja, the cosmic dancer who creates, maintains and dissolves the world. Shiva is the original yogi who brought yoga to man and continues to inspire all yoga practitioners and bless with his grace. He is usually sparsely clothed or completely naked; his long hair is loose or tied in a bun on his head or braided into a crown of hair; he has three eyes that symbolize the sun, moon and fire. His third eye is closed, if he opened it, a scorching heat would destroy all creation. He is usually depicted with a face and two or four arms. But there are also manifestations with up to eighteen arms. Its attributes indicate whether it is a North Indian form (with trident and cobra) or a South Indian form (with hatchet and antelope). Now in the 21st century, hatha yoga is especially important. Hatha Yoga is scientifically proven, it has a positive effect on the body, there is more energy, it keeps people mentally awake and healthy longer, especially in the course of the longer biological life, it is also important that the psyche remains active and young. I can say that for sure, from everyone who has practiced Hatha Yoga and who are now over 70, 80, they have a clarity of mind that is very great. And Hatha Yoga gives you energy for all the challenges of life, Hatha Yoga gives you relaxation that is necessary in this stressful everyday life, Hatha Yoga has been shown to be just as effective for curing mental illnesses as psychotherapy, Hatha Yoga helps people intensive practice of having spiritual experiences like hardly anything else that you can do in a satiated way. And so Hatha Yoga is in any case a good basis for other spiritual practices, but Hatha Yoga alone leads to the realization of God, because it also has meditation.
