The biggest issue I've been struggling with since getting into no code development, has been the backend side of things. My app called for user data storage, web hooks, and APIs. I know how get keys etc... but when building using these tools like Claude or v0, What I end up with is a feedback loop where the Ai doesn't;t understand how to build the app without the data or content to build it for. I've yet to find a good beginner video on how to set up backends for these apps, recommendations welcome. 🙏

I think bolt is really going to change how apps are developed. You can take an idea and get a very good mvp created in such a short space of time. The issue I'm finding with bolt though is that when you are working on the app for a few days, you spend more time reminding the tool what the feature should have been in the first place, even when you've spent a long time ensuring you've specified user flows and features in the first place. Is it possible to have a "feature reference" file that the tool can refer to when you ask it to implement a feature that was on the original plan for the app but it couldn't code out because of token limits? Also, DIFF will make this 1000% times better.

I just requested a refund from Bolt. Here’s why: I spent 12 hours on bolt trying to get it to build something that I built in 12 prompts on v0 This is likely naive, but do these LLMs responses degrade over time, or as the complexity increases? Once I got the UI and design 80% there, I started making aesthetic requests to change icons or borders. Then it would just proceed to completely abandon entire components we had constructed, or destroy the functionality and devastate the UI. It’s not lost on me the power of these tools to allow someone like me with zero code experience to build a functional front end of any quality, but I don’t understand why it can’t handle minor adjustments without destroying everything. I spent more time trying to get it to restore lost functionality and design than I did actually implementing anything.
@ejk69693 ай бұрын
I had exactly the same experience. Too much time + tokens needed correcting things that bolt changed. That were good before. Also very annoying not able to revert to earlier versions. Bolt has potential but needs to improve a lot more.

The main problem is that Bolt doesn't have backups or version control. It'll fix this pain
@ChristopherCopeland3 ай бұрын
@@Businessology. I think if there was a way that you could store a particular set of code once the user has approved it- basically “locking” parts of code or full sets of code- possibly by storing that code in a different way than bolt does so that the LLM can reference that already-constructed component when it rebuilds the code for the next-prompted modification, it doesn’t have to speculate on what it did before and also will not have access to that locked code when it makes a new update. I have a fairly shallow understanding of the way all of these things function from a coding perspective, but it seems to me that if you had the ability to “lock” things, where you can “unlock” them later so that it can update something in that set of code, that would be rad. The problem seems to be, let’s say I want a margin shifted… for some reason bolt decides it’s high time to completely reimagine that entire component and UI lol If you have a way that I could build and then modify the code at a very specific and granular level where it *never* adjusts more than is absolutely necessary to execute the exact specific modification I have requested, I will give you all of the money 😂 Of course if I ask it for a sweeping change across the entire thing, it should also be able to do that, but I think it should look at the nature of my request and ask if it is an aesthetic change or a function change or a UI modification, etc, xyz, and then do its best to narrow down the LEAST work it can possibly do to execute the request, that would help cut down the “hallucination” of what I want done. For example, I asked it very very (painfully) specifically to change the Font size in a component “to make it more clean and minimal” and when it returned the updated code to me it said, “I did this and this…… and also increased the size size of the icons for increased visibility”
