It's an unusual phenomenon, people aren't sure what to expect. I was concerned about the wind blowing in from a different direction as I live an old tall house with an old tall chimney. Turns out it was fine, have felt worse winds & gusts from regular storms.

Everything blew all over hell’s half acre and the gutters and drains were plugged in Oct. I don’t know about you, it was way too hot at my place and it didn’t cool to below 25°C indoors till that storm. Most days it was 30-35C in my place. In the sun all day. No ventilation besides two bathroom sized windows. Extremes of “weather”. Calm it what you like. IMHO it’s more extreme more often. Suns out and it’s hot instantly. Gotta move! Hard to find a place that accepts dogs for $2k. Landlords assume men party and are filthy. Last landlord said I was quieter and cleaner than they were. Can I get that in writing? Rents are ridiculous. Hopefully the glut of condos will make rents more affordable and inline with interest rate drops. Suites used to be mortgage helpers. Now everyone is a real estate hedge fund. My fault. I take the blame for everything! 🙏

What's really happening with the weather news is that even TV personalities are having to get informed about meteorological realities. Like the man said, anyone who's actually been tracking meteorological events have been hearing the terms 'bomb cyclone' and 'atmospheric river' for 4 decades. Most people have not been aware of these things because they've been rare and usually not in places where they have been of concern to cities. So try and pry open the rusty hinges of your brain and start learning for the sake of your own kids.
