Been gardening all my life and I never met a heuchera I didn't like. Some people see them as fillers but they are the star of the show in the shade. And great cut flowers too.

Another great video. I have them all except maybe the geranium. I do have one but it has a blue flower. Thanks again. You are great at giving tips and advice.

Great selection, i think anykind of daylilies would be a great pick as well.

In the same bed, I have daffodils w the daylilies. As the daffodils slowly die down, the leaves of the lilies cover them up.

I am in the PNW of the USA and I use native straight species varieties of both Heuchera and Geranium, and they've been some of the easier plants to keep alive! I use both in kind of dryish part-shade.

Interesting my geranium and heuchera are both in dry shade as well and struggling. Must be our heavy clay soil in East Tennessee.
@Hayley-sl9lm Жыл бұрын
@@natalie_tn Maybe it depends on how dry? I do water during heat waves and drought. I think the spp. I have may be more forest-adapted so maybe more shade-tolerant (Heuchera clorantha and Geranium oreganum). But I do have clay as well.

Great video again. I’ve just taken on an allotment and it’s filled with alchemilla mollis and I was wondering how to cut it back thank you. Have you any tips for brunnera Jack Frost as that’s also getting out of hand? Thanks

Will they all tolerate a very wet clay soil?

I have loads of heucheras. Unfortunately most have got rust this year. Heartbreaking. Cut them all right back but some are still coming back with it. So taking most of them up 😩

Thank you for an informative video. I cabn not grow Heuchera in my garden. They eventually die. I think Heucheras are quite fussy about where they grow and soil conditions\. I think maybe my soil is wrong for them! Is Chocolate Ruffles a particularly forgiving variety of heuchera? thank you :-) Alchemilla spreads everywhere in my garden. I wish the flowers were a different colour- I really don't like the sitrus green /yellow of the flowers- I find it hard to place with other flowers. If I have a spot where I really can't get much to grow then Sedum Autumn joy is brilliant and thrives there. I have mine planted with Echinacea Purpureal. I even have some self seeders in half shady positions and it still does well and flowers. I love it. Not so successful with the purple/red varieties, sadly. Aquilegias grow well in my garden and seed freely too. I love them. Thnk you again :-)

I can't grow Heuchera to save my life and I've been gardening for over 30 years.

Some plants are just like that! Frustrating. I can’t grow sunflowers. How can someone mess up sunflowers?!? Oh well.
@joecarangi91327 ай бұрын
I bet you’ve been treated them like all your other plants and that’s why. They thrive on a bit of neglect. Plant them, water them every other day for a week or two, then keep an eye on them (particularly the edges of leaves) but leave them alone for the most part unless it’s a stretch of drought.
@natalie_tn7 ай бұрын
@@joecarangi9132 Actually they are very neglected. However I now realize they are in dry shade and need more moisture..I think. Hesitant to buy any more.

Alchemilla mollis is invasive.

Sorry ,but my plants are far superior ,Alchemilla mollis is worse than dandelions and not as pretty. Erodium manescavii is evergreen , self seeds mildly and flowers from end of April to beginning of November , Hardy osteospermums evergreen and flowers nearly all year and they hybridise . Much better than these plants .
