What a beautifully composed song and what great singing by Rafi. In the phrase "Akela kahan", you see how Rafi improvises " kahaan" at the end of each verse.. That's the originality of Rafi...I have heard both female and male singers sing this song but somehow Rafi's voice had some hidden quality in it that brings out the expression of each word so beautifully which I find most singers can't do even though they may deliver the song very well! Whether it's an expression of grief, joy, romance.. Rafi's voice brought it out most beautifully. Of course, the other thing that most people who know Rafi personally say is, even if anyone could sing these songs of Rafi very well, the ease with which Rafi would sing these songs is something very difficult for most singers, even professional ones to emulate. That was God's gift to Rafi...
