@@user-jv7uy2yt2z That's true, we don't know their ranks, but what I gathered from ep.4 they weren't super high ranked. Then also, in this time period the jedi were very unprepared for sith. When he pushes all of them we see this: he could most probably only do this because they were all caught by surprise. And we see him using his cortosis as a trick a multitude of times. We also see after the push how he's at most fighting three of these (probably not too highly ranked) jedi. Heck, what sells it for me is his trouble with Jecki. A fully fledged sith apprentice should have no issues dispensing of a padawan. And he even needs a trick again: his splitting lightsaber. Don't get me wrong, this guy is highly skilled, but definitely not far enough above these jedi here to be of the level I would expect from the two sith in this era. It's also important to note that, in this era, an apprentice to THE sith apprentice would still be a powerful force user. A bit later on, during the prequels, Maul was a sith assassin up until about halfway through the pantom menace. And of course Assaj Ventress was also a sith assassin. And then there's Grievous, who was also on that level of apprentice to THE apprentice.

yep, my guess too. As in legends then Darth Tenebrous would have Plagueis as his apprentice at this time (being 15 years old). Though i think and hope they did their own thing and made Qimir Tenebrous's first apprentice, where he's tired of being bound to his master and all this secrecy. Then he goes out to train and look to get May to join him, to in the end as you said kill Tenebrous. But because of what happened in ep 5, Tenebrous goes and kills Qimir because of how stupid he was about this, not killing every witness. Where then Tenebrous go and get Plagueis as his second apprentice... Cuz it would be stupid to throw them out of the picture, esp Plaguis as he's actually apart of Cannon. Overall it'd be a fan service to do so, actually get some real dark sith things in a possible season 2 with Tenebrous and Plagueis....

Actually, there were 3 forms of lightsabre fighting that the Jedi could not use, being; Form VII: Juyo, Known for its aggressive and unpredictable nature, Juyo is considered highly dangerous and is often associated with the Dark Side. Its use is typically discouraged among Jedi. The second is Dun Möch which This is not a lightsaber form but a Sith technique used during lightsaber duels. It involves taunting and psychological manipulation to break the opponent's concentration and morale. It is considered unethical and against the Jedi Code. And the third Tràkata which This technique involves deactivating and reactivating the lightsaber during combat to confuse the opponent. While not explicitly forbidden, it is seen as deceptive and not in line with the Jedi's principles of honor and straightforwardness in combat. These forms were actually listed in the Darth Bane trilogy, and make sense for his training style. Yord saying the fighting doesn't make sense, is because it derives from 3 forms that were not taught.

The Sith's arm brace and hemet are made of Cortosis. It's a material that deactivates lightsabers and blaster bolts. This isn't the first time it has appeared in canon as its featured a fair amount in the book Thrawn: Alliances. Thrawn & Anakin destroy a Separatist factory which was making a droid army and clone armor out of the material

Qimir can be a Sith, without breaking the lore. 1 of 2 things would have to happen, either the information is never told or else Sol dies. But if one of these two is the case, Qimir can be written in multiple ways. He could become Plagueis master or be his apprentice, he could be one of Tenebros' many apprentices(killed by Plagueis), and he could be a foreign branch of Sith, that eventually got killed by Bane's linage of Sith. And all three could be possible and stay within lore, even adding to the Star Wars univers.

Qimir is also likely the same age as the actor who plays him so about 36, meaning he would've been born in 168BBY which is really, really old for a human even with the dark side. Personally I would like to see Plagueis usurp Qimir as Tenebrous' apprentice in the show, maybe Tenebrous wants Qimir killed because he's causing too much commotion almost revealing the Sith before the time has come, therefore he needed to be replaced, plus Qimir was actively training his own Acolyte.

Perhaps Mae and Qimir will frame Sol for the massacre saying he got disillusioned because of whatever happened on Osha's home and fell to the dark side. The council can easily argue he used his emotions instead of being a jedi (brought Osha, stuck up for her, taught her even though she was older), he killed Yord (who knows Osha), Jecki (who knows him), orchestrated the death of Indara, Torbin and Kelnacca (who "knew" Mae died even though she didn't) and was indoctrinating younglings dark force thoughts (younglings mention fire scene earlier). "Osha" (actaually Mae) can "admit" to helping him when he tells the council about the Sith, so it's not the sith surviving, it's a traitor jedi.

The Sith lord of this time period is a guy named Darth Tenebrous. He is interested in the art of manipulating life through the use of the Force. He finds a coven of witches who have a mastered at least part of this skill, so he goes to learn from them (he's actually present in the background of the flashback scene when Mae and Osha are doing their ascension ceremony, but then peaces out when the Jedi show up.) The Jedi realize this or something like it, so they kill everyone in the coven. They do this to prevent the Sith from learning forbidden knowledge from them. Nonetheless, Tenebrous now has some basic information to start, but still doesn't know how to do it, thus he spends the rest of his life trying to unlock the secret. He has two apprentices, an official Sith apprentice named Darth Plagueis, and an illegitimate apprentice named Darth Venamis, although technically Venamis isn't a "Darth," nor a true Sith, since the Rule of Two says there can only be one master and one apprentice. Ultimately, Tenebrous discovers Venamis betraying him and imprisons him in his lab where he uses him in his experiments, literally torturing him to death for decades and reviving him using the techniques he's learning. His apprentice Darth Plagueis eventually kills Tenebrous and takes his own apprentice, Darth Sidious. Together they continue the experimentation, accidentally creating Anakin Skywalker. However, they think all their experiments have failed (Anakin is born on the other side of the galaxy and they are unaware of it until Sidious encounters him in "The Phantom Menace.") Due to their failures, Sidious becomes impatient and kills Plagueis in his sleep, becoming the master, and eventually taking Darth Maul as his apprentice. This is the point at which the prequels begin. Here is the punchline to all of this: Qimir is Darth Venamis and we're seeing the story of his betrayal of his master, Darth Tenebrous. He wants an acolyte to increase his strength in order to kill Tenebrous and replace him.

I think one thing we should take from the prequals and sequals is the fact that the Sith rule of two requires every apprentice to find an apprentice. So there can be multiple sith alive at once. This is what happened when pallpatine took on Darth maul. Then when Maul was assumed dead, he took on Dooku. Palpatine then replaced him with Vader by having Anakin kill him. Maul, still alive, began training his brother, although not necessarily to become a sith lord. Darth Plagueis was a public figure just like palpatine and they both hid in plain sight, hiding their immense dark side powers from the entire jedi order. It is possible that this was a teaching that has been passed down to keep them hidden. It is also possible that previous Sith had apprentices that escaped, were too weak to defeat their masters, or too weak to continue being trained. I don't love the show, but we should stop acting as if there aren't a lot of ways they can spin this that makes sense.

@@bluemoondm8629 If they're still following the nomenclature of Sith hierarchy (Not sure if this is Legends now but they clearly used apprentice in the prequels), then an Acolyte comes before Apprentice which comes before Master. An Acolyte is one who is vying for apprenticeship, hence why Mae was being tested (i.e. tasked to kill a Jedi without a weapon.)

Overall I found myself actually enjoying the episode but I had to turn my brain off a bit and ignore the characters I don't like such as Mae, Osha, and Yord. I think Qimir is a really awesome sith character and I love his creepy psychopath demeanor. I think he/his stunt double did really well with his saber technique. I loved the brutal carnage and he seemed actually dangerous. I also give credit to the show for murdering off all of the Jedi outside of Sol so far. Killing off Jecki and Yord was surprising and I am impressed they were willing to do so. However, this in no way excuses the insultingly bad writing and plotholes, but my little star wars lightsaber loving brain still enjoyed watching the episode enough.

That armbrace and helmet too is made of a certain alloy that can shutout lightsabers. It's very rarely seen let alone used which indicates how rare the alloy is compared to Beskar alloy. That alloy is called Cortosis. Either Qimir did a hack job at making the helmet as shown with the cracks on it but it's also true that Cortosis while strong against energy based weaponry it's not very strong against blunt force unlike Beskar. Qimir is merely calling himself a Sith and it appears he was self-taught. I imagine this would be dealt with and they would keep their mouths shut regarding this lone wolf as the real Sith master and apprentice are still out there. Sol didn't get rid of Qimir because the latter was egging him to do it and Sol was not about to subject Osha to something he did not wish for her to see.

I think the Ki-Adi-Mundi being there adds to the hubris of the Jedi. The fact that he says the sith have been gone for a millennium, yet a hundred years prior was here for some dark side force wielder murdering several Jedi kinda shows just how arrogant the Jedi had become, though I know most aren’t reading it that way.

Also the point of that line was ALWAYS that he was wrong/ Qui-Gon had just fought a Sith and was conveying that information. it is ludicrous that people could see this as even coming close to a retcon

Anybody wouldn't believe it the first time they're told about it. Them being wrong is HARDLY the point of that scene and line.

I'd never heard of cortosis (I haven't read any of the books it is mentioned or shown in) so when I saw him deactivate the Jedi's lightsabers, I was a bit confused. Then I was told what cortosis was and now it makes sense. Edit: Actually, I think cortosis was mentioned in the book Star Wars Lightsabers: A Guide to Weapons of the Force that I own but that was years ago, so I forgot.

My guess is that, like the inquisitors, quimeir’s training isn’t complete and he was only taught one or two aspects of the dark side leaving out the others. He still believes he is a full Sith Lord but in fact is still very weak.

This guy is actually the perfect portrayal of a sith. He says he's no one yet implies the Jedi deem every other force user as ilegals or evil hence why they would call him a sith. He's manipulative, has no mercy, straight up slaughters everyone and tries everything in his powe to kill his apprentice whilst trying to turn Sol. In his speech he make references to the dark side, claiming that its freedom and that peace is a lie. The fact that the actor trained for most of the choreographic movement makes me root for him in general. Even though not lore accurate, that kind of dedication from an actor is what we're missing in SW.

Him being a Sith wouldn't redcon anything coz Yoda was doubtful when Ki Adi said that the Sith were extinct and with Palpatine saying there was Plagueis before him in Star Wars 3 it enables the fact that the Sith were only in hiding... but I'd prefer if Qimir was one of the older Knights of Ren as in Legends it was an Order created before, independent of the Sith/or secretly controlled by them (like Kylo Ren and Palpatine in secret controlling it as Snoke) yet also of the dark Side... But Qimir saying he wants a Pupil might mean he was the apprentice of Plagueis before Sidious or a student of a Sith before Plagueis and nether became the main Sith himself as he didn't manage to kill his master... my guess is they'll kill Qimir off at the end of the series to introduce Sidious as the next Sith leaving continuity with the Prequels (or Qimir survives goes into hiding and we get a whole new series about him as a spin off character)... Last option for Qimir is he truly is one of the knights of Ren (the last one at that time maybe) and he looks for an Acolyte (were the term Acolyte makes more sense than with the Sith) to get the Order back on it's feet and as we see with Kylo Ren's knights of Ren it is completely believable that he wants to recruit the twins (Osha preferably before she turns Jedi...) I don't know why but with Sol and Qimir I really have high hopes for improvement of the plot and the complexity in general, I think they should try and leave the twins as the points of interest (with character development) but focusing on mainly Qimir seeing how he's literally the reason the show picked up pace again. If they manage to lead the season into a real good cliffhanger (maybe teasing the knights of Ren as a canon part of the early times) and get away from the bad written ridicule they followed through til now (lesbian witches wasn't my problem it was how they were shown... the witches of dathomir may not be lesbians strictly but they show in Clone Wars how to introduce leading women into Star Wars and they control the male population, just pick up the concepts that are given... we don't need new Ideas for Star Wars, we just need new development... Star Wars Legends gives us sooo much to work with for great movies... adapt it to how the Canon lore stands til now and insert LGBT if you want... but smart not the stupid LGBT we see with the witches... make some characters gay but like behaving normal so that it's possible for us as viewers to identify ourselves with a well written strong lesbian, gay or queer character)... My hypothesis: He's not Rule of Two Sith. He is failed Jedi padawan that found Sith holocron or other writings. This would conform with prequels and Ki-Adi-Mundi knowing about him. Or he just straight kills everyone in the end

Cortosis probably works by absorbing energy so rapidly that when it contacts the saber blade it uses the electrical connection with the crystal and charger array to drain so much power up the blade as it simultaneously is decapacitating that it takes a few seconds for the power packs to recharge the emitter capacitors to re-ignite. Like how shooting a weak ionizing laser up into a thunder cloud forms a connection briefly allowing a lightning bolt to travel from the cloud to the ground through it, except instead of a lightning bolt it is a massive charge of energy being absorbed from the saber hilt via the blade in the moments before the blade vanishes because the field collapsed.

the thing that deactivated the jedis' lightsabers was a rare type of metal. in legends canon there was a sword forged from this metal that deactivated vader's lightsaber but I can't remember the metal's name. now it is officially disney canon lmao

To be honest, I’m just happy to see lightsabers finally work for once. One thing this show gets right is the action sequences. And I was honestly surprised they gave Yord and Jecki NO plot armor at all. Just straight up killed them off in the more brutal way, especially in a Disney show. Like my God, they did that so well

I think his helmet shortened out the Lightsabers cause when Yord runs at him his picks up the helmet and blocks his saber with it and it shortens out.

We’ve seen a certain metal work like his wrist guard and helmet before-Cortosis, one of the few materials that are lightsaber resistant. Iirc It is a metal that has high energy absorption, enough to temporarily short out a lightsaber. It has been used in a dagger by a jedi fighting Vader in a comic and in legends the CIS made a cortosis super battle droid and Jedi could really only destroy it by crushing the internal hardware with the force, it was so effective Palpatine had to “leak” the location of the factory to the Jedi to keep the war from becoming to one sided. I also thought I heard it was brittle but that must be another material.

If you were to have cut out just a little bit of that episode, I would say it was fantastic. For now I'm going to say it's better than the average episode. A couple of things for people that are confused: Qimir isn't the Acolyte, he specifically says that he WANTS an acolyte/apprentice. The episode ends with Sol and Bazzle being the only people able to contact the jedi about what happened, so there is a chance that they somehow become unable to relay that information (technically Bazzle can talk, even if he can't fly, speak to most people, and do a lot of things) His helmet isn't a stylistic choice, it seems to be designed to filter in as much air as possible while covering up his face to hide his identity. Ki-Adi-Mundi's statement was already incorrect. Whether Qimir is a sith or not does not rely on Ki-Adi-Mundi saying otherwise My own thoughts are that episode 4 should have had a gradual shift into the tone and atmosphere of this episode. I liked seeing Yord, Jackie, and Sol all being fleshed out as characters, but Jackie especially felt rushed within the fight scene. (I also think they should have made her have slightly worse fighting capabilities when she was fighting alone, that way they could really emphasis the power of the padawin and the master)

The thing on the Stranger's wrist was a cortosis band, same as his helmet. Cortosis short-curcuits lightsabers, instantly deactivating them.

I think that cool ending for the show would be Jedi figuring out he is not actually the Sith but just wannabe (because the way he says the line makes it very clear he is not actually real Sith), then there is the final battle, which he survivers, flees somewhere and then the show ends with the actually current Sith Lord appearing and killing him for the rule of two. But if that Sith lord is not Plagueis or Tenebrous, then fans are probablt going to rage even more.

The fact that he says he doesn't have a name means he's not a true sith. He's an acolyte. Otherwise he would have answer "I'm darth something". What he said is that jedi would consider him like a sith, he is to their eyes. But he is not a sith lord, probably was trained by an apprentice sith lord. Also, Sol looks more and more suspicious.

Remember Maul who still had a darth name even when he was the apprentice of an apprentice. Kimir isn't a sith lord. And I think the serie will end with the revelation of the true sith apprentice.

His wrist brace and helmet are made of Cortosis a metal capable of shorting out lightsabers on contact. It has appeared in the books and comics. This was its first live action appearance.

His armour is made out of cortosis which is best known for being saber resistant and for shorting out lightsabers. Long have I waited for lightsaber blades to “break” in an actual series. Now we just need red lightsabers to do the same outside of legends.

What Ki-adi Mundi said was clearly a lie, intentional or not. We know the Sith weren't extinct, but hiding, so I don't get how seeing the Sith doing stuff in secret is a retcon really. At least for now it means the events we are watching didn't make it to the council, or that they are lying for some reason, both are intriguing possibilities.
