This clip is from my documentary "Bombing L.A, A Graffiti Documentary"
It features several of L.A.'s premiere OG writers of the late 80's and early 90's.
One of the most prolific was "Wisk". Here he gets caught and confronted by a property owner who voices the usual objections to graffiti.
Get your own copy of this underground classic. "Bombing L. A., A Graffiti Documentary 30th Anniversary Edition" Includes never before seen footage of "Wisk" live on "The Today Show".

This is a great video. It's really awesome to see the changes in the culture that you may not even have noticed happening over time until you see an old video like this. haha Awesome stuff and really nice that in the past week or so this video has blown up a little bit. It has got a lot more value than a lot of the newer graffiti videos on youtube nowadays.

Who wouldn’t be mad when their property gets punted by kids ???
@ScizGraffiti
@ScizGraffiti 3 жыл бұрын
@@pimpmac4993 I'm not arguing that anyone wouldn't be mad. I'm stating that people who don't understand how graffiti uses artistic concepts and concepts of design make the mistake of equating where something is to it being either bad or good. A person who doesn't want it on their property thinks it's bad simply because it is on their property or "in your house" etc, whereas the value that graffiti holds is a separate topic that is mostly, but probably not entirely mutually exclusive from location. Location is one of many variables that either assists a graffiti piece's value or hinders it. But whether an independent person (who knows nothing about artistic concepts in general) likes the location or not of a graffiti piece due to external factors which influence how they feel about it, does not have any bearing on the value of the graffiti in any way. Simply put, whether someone who has a bad experience with graffiti likes it or not, doesn't, in any way, define the value of a graffiti piece or graffiti art as a whole. Location does, but only in relation to artistic concepts and how the location emphasizes or hinders them, as I said. So the statement that Wisk makes about how "You just can't win" is incredibly accurate in that he is describing that he will never be able to convince guys like that property owner, who know nothing about graffiti or any other art, that it has value, not because they have had bad experiences with graffiti, but because they simply don't have any knowledge about graffiti and artistic values, which is necessary for them to know to appreciate the graffiti despite their bad personal experiences with it.
