Nice build. Well done. I love using parts bin and friends parts bin stuff as well as spending 💰where it matters like brakes. Nothing bad about the Claris crankset. I used a $35 Acera rear derailleur on a recent build. I embrace cheap and cheerful. Enjoy your day my friends.

Sick!! I love a well executed high-low build with $500 brakes and a $40 crankset. I'd be careful leaving disc brake cables long tho. I used to leave 'em long, but this one time I grazed a trailside bush, and it propelled my cable into my rotor and insta stopped my front wheel. Nearly got bodied.

good point. i left the derailer cable long too and it got tangled in the pulleys.

First time to watch your videos. I found it funny in a dry-humor kind of way.

You will fuck up your hardware using the little nubby end of an allen key to torque stuff down. It's just for installing/uninstalling before/after torquing. I also don't get going 1x, except it being a parts bin build. It's so hilly here in the bay area, it's pretty nice being able to change significantly more gears more quickly and simply with the front rather than going up an down potentially 10 gear shifts. Interesting to see how the really short drops match up with the brake levers, it's not something I'd really thought about before with the super compact ones. Looks like a fun bike!

lmao at the Tektro RRL spacer rant... with you 100% they should be installed UNLESS you have a traditional bend bar and are going for a retro look (and it is all about looks, will never be as comfy as a compact drop)

I tried out compact bars, and I gotta say they had their benefits but the style of drops usually found on compact drops aren't as comfortable compared to traditional drops for me. I dislike how there isn't any flat portion, the whole of the drops are curved. I like the curve, it's comfy, but I didn't like it as much as having nice long flats. Luckily, I was able to find some compact drops that are essentially the Nitto 132 except with short reach. Honestly the best bar I ever used is an old SR RANNDNNR bar. Just is a little too long in reach for me on most frames since the reach is 10cm and I already have a hard enough time reaching with my long legs/short torso.

Paired my RRLs with a Simworks Wild Honey, no spacers. It's good.

Who cares what someone thinks about a brand. Diversity protects us as consumers. Lots of people riding "cheap parts" and embarrassing Brand Snobs.
