First time watching. Seems like they are moving material from one area of the river to another. Is it because they are making that area deeper, or is it because they are building up another area. If it was a matter of making one area deeper, I think they could have brought that sand to shore and use it as building material or landfill. Someone please tell me what they are doing.

Im a heavy diesel mechanic and id love to work out there on them boats im surprised it uses such a small engine small as in power that engine will make way more power than it does by a few changes at not much expense like just making a cold air intake and not have it pull hot air from the engine room or if you want you could make a aluminium box have a intercooler sat in it weld it air tight then use the river water to cool the intercooler. As you can see thought it works and why fix what isnt broken loved the video and thanks to the captain for allowing the tour of his barge

In one similar video cargo space,that is mud & sand + water is pumped from the vessel through net work of rigid & collapsibel pc pipe, to foundation of home/ factory foundation. In the civil masonary building foundation below plinth beam earth is to filled. Here water & soil flow in foundation pit excess water & a portion of soil & water overflow from plinth beam & makes way by gravity toward low lying ground. Hence building foundation gets soil, & adjacent street,/ road or other residential vacancy land higher. Their logic is rain fall on ground,along with clay,& earth wash down river bank or its nearby vicinity. Heavy rain wash uptown low lying area,initially & with subsequent rains more soil & water find its way back to river banks,& utilately into river. River banks barricades walls even when built,the river flow does not adehear to a constant flow pattern,on river beds. The river changes its routes often,& river bank bund making does not stay long period of time.

Most amazing fact that the only electrics aboard are the lights and signals. The rest is just diesel, hydraulics and mechanics. Even the anchor is driven by an auxilary engine.. Also, great dedication to the footage, i wanted to see the hull and the living cab of one of these.

That dude with safari hat needs to keep his butt down by the intake hose. As soon as the material stops being agitated the solids settle and it only pumps water. If he stayed by the pickup and kept it agitated, it's way more effective. Guess there's busybodies everywhere
