My favorite Bon Jovi song!!! Doesn't get any better than this .especially the song's 'introduction'....In the opening bars of "Livin' on a Prayer," when Sambora's guitar almost seems to be saying "a whoa whoa, a whoa whoa," that's actually Richie Sambora shaping his guitar's notes into "whoa" sounds using his mouth.

I was 24 when this came out; it was directly in the CENTER of my wheel house. we had Barracks Anthems while i was in the military, and this is one where everyone in the barracks knew all the words; you could hear us out on the road. great band. great musician. 35 years later he's still performing like it was the 80s, except with a hair cut.
@Rainyman633 жыл бұрын
That ua-ua- u-u-ua sound is the guitar player Richie Sambora who uses a Talk Box. The guitar signal goes into a tiny speaker that is connected to a tube. The other end of the tube is close to the Mic Richie uses for singing (he is an outstanding singer, by the way, does most of the background and harmony voices). Riche plays guitar with the tube in his mouth while he sings. That makes the guitar sound like it‘s talking. Peter Frampton (do you feel like we do / show me the way) and Joe Walsh use this effect a lot, too.

As a long-time Bon Jovi-fan, "She Don't Know me" is one of the few songs that BJ themselves didn't write. So even though it's a cool song, it's not really fitting for someone getting to know the group. "Bed of Roses", however, is a gem. One of their best songs, in my opinion.

Jersey band. Richie Sambora is underrated. Talk box on guitar ... when you asked "what was that?"
@binkle763 жыл бұрын
that opening sound is Richie Sambora using a Vocoder. Peter Frampton used one on Do You Feel (Like I Do) and Joe Perry uses one at the beginning of Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion. Its basically an electrified voice box that works in tandem with the guitar.
@axltyler3 жыл бұрын
The sound being made at the beginning of the song is being produced by a talk box. It's an effects unit with a tube that the guitarist puts in his mouth, usually by a microphone, and using the cavity of his mouth, shapes the sound content of the note coming from the guitar, thus in this song, the verbal "whoa, whoa, whoa" riff.
@DevilzFan3 жыл бұрын
