Another adventures of Ben Cartwright and his sons (Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker, Michael Landon and Mitch Vogel) as they run and defend their ranch while helping the surrounding community.

Now 81 the beautiful Mariette Hartley was such a good choice for this part. Mariette is a wonderful actress and was also a writer and producer...indeed her two children followed her into the business. This is probably my favourite episode, which deals so well with people's prejudices, due to its high quality writing and acting. Many thanks for posting 🙏

The Cartwrights have done it again. Multiculturalism, inter-ethnic existence, human kindness can be learned from the Bonanza episodes. Hats off to the planners, makers, directors and producers of the BONANZA.

No+ It's sad that Mr. Purcell didn't want to accept what had happened to his wife Alisha, Purcell that had been abducted by the Indians & force by the chief to have a child just to be rejected by her own race of people in Virginia City just because of her baby being a half breed Indian baby child, nonetheless at least she had the cartrights that stood up for Alisha Purcell & child I think this is one of many great episodes. Acting is acting yes, however, an actor can't have his or her's divisive attitude, this will always reveal the underlying insult. Not in Ben's heart, he's open generous, understanding, and wise, and the command of his role here is definitely foddered to feed off, as I'm sure the entire cast of the Ponderosa, and Bonanza did. Bringing in acceptance and the fight to be seen and heard for one's character, not the skin tone? Interesting his challenge if your gonna hide, why, if your gonna fight do it here.

*SOUND PROBLEM REMEDY* *I figured out a while back that when they upload videos with messed up sound or no sound like alot of the ones this person uploaded that if you use headphones or a separate speaker such as plugin speaker or bluetooth speaker that you'll be able to hear it fine. I don't know how or why it works, but that's actually how I'm watching it right now with headphones on.*

Its the white people who made a difference and talked of "half breed" etc. As far as I know, natives always accepted others into their communities. Or weren't as racist as the rest. And what a horrible reaction to that poor woman & child. Hypocrites. But good hot topics picked up in these episodes. Wow.

@@leeannafitzgerel8740 well, back then lots of horrible things happened on both sides, I know. It happens when cultures clash. Left alone, few of the native people had started fights. Well, some of the kind they did among themselves, like taking some goods and horses. But no bloody extinction war.

Great episode. There is more behind the scenes here than readily apparent. I suggest everyone take a few moments to read the biography of Mariette Hartley which I have taken the liberty to share here. When reading the biography, consider the similarity with which she drove herself in her work similar to the way Robin Williams drove himself in his. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariette_Hartley
