That’s if they’re salt-packed though. The ones you get in brine aren’t nearly as salty and won’t need to be soaking so it’s really just about what you have in your pantry. Plus I think what he was trying to say is that these are ingredients you may find in your pantry, not that they don’t need to be prepared

I make elk meatloaf (or any meal that would use ground beef) all the time. It is really nice to have a father-in-law that is a hunter/fisherman, and to live in an area with such abundance of nature. To us it is cheap and cheerful food. And to each their own.

Some people hunt those things to save money. So, Elk and Venison are more common than you may realize. My local Butcher Shop carries elk and venison when in season. It just depends on where you live.

I've learned that if hunters happen to get something big like an elk, it's enough meat for almost a year.

@@SiopaoSauc3 It's one of the main draws to Elk hunting. If I lived within driving distance of Utah, I would definitely go Elk hunting once a year. The price to get a permit for killing an elk is about $5-600 depending on the year, out of state status, etc. Even at $600, the amount of meat you get off that thing is incredible. It's definitely worth its weight in meat especially if you like meats like venison. If properly cleaned, butchered, and prepared- venison and elk meat can be as good as, if not better, than a steak. Plus the meat is more ethically sourced, generally speaking.

she's using kosher salt, kosher salt is less salty compared to regular salt, so if you wanna make that sandwich with regular salt you just put less, also i think every single one of them is using kosher salt so get that in mind
