I agree with Bisho's approach, which is to guide people and teach them how to pull themselves out of a rip rather than just rescue them. Education leads to more informed swimmers

Most of the time, they need to go 3 metres left and they aren't really in that much danger, so Bisho's approach is fine and we do see that he will go in if the patient is in serious danger.

I hope that swimmer in the red shorts that was rescued picked his bottle up that he threw onto the sand and is not a litter lout. The music played during the rescue scenes from the nutcracker ballet reminded me of an advert over here in the UK it was used in a chocolate advert with the words “everyone’s a fruit and nut case crazy for those Cadburys nuts and raisins...” I thought it a good piece of music as the people in need of rescue must have been nuts to ignore the signs and verbal messages.

I think it's great that he is educating the people that are close to drowning. By talking to them calmly and rationally about which way to swim, put your feet down, stay calm, definitely helps educate people. However, once their hand goes up, I'd like to see the lifeguard get out there as quickly as possible!

I lived on Lamb Island while growing up from 1972 to 1981, I swam with sharks, patted ones my mother had on lines, and yes seen a very large Hammer head longer than the dingy, we never wore black while in the water. They think you are food , I still have all my limbs, they are fascinating animals, people just need to learn about the environment that they enter, learn survival, skills, that will save there lives. And others with them.

First off, thanks for posting these videos because I love this show and I am from America so this channel is the only way to watch Bondi Rescue!! Second, I just want to say I don't get Bisho!! How can he be a lifeguard and not like to get wet? Oh and wasn't he an Australian Swim Belt Champion at one point which would require him to get wet? Everyone talking about Bisho not wanting to get wet and not realising it's a joke, not one person mentioning him pointing out that he said the more time he spends in the water the more time he's away from his radio if something more serious happens, especially since the guy wasn't even going under badly and bisho IS a trained emergency responder, he knows what people in danger looks like and won't just let them get hurt or die for his convenience or comfort

If I ever go to Bondi Beach, I hope Bisho isn't working. He cares more about his hair than peoples lives. Yes, educating people is good, but how effective do you think the teaching is going to be when someone is panicked and drowning?

cocolocooz I'm pretty sure a bull shark, along with hammer heads can kill you. You don't have to throw cheap insults. I've surfex New England by myself surrounded by seals, so don't tell me about great whites.

Hammer heads are fairly aggressive. Their head shape actually makes it easier to find prey.
