My little white kitty, Tina, only had one eye and as she aged she lost sight in that eye. Tina was having difficulty hearing also. She knew her way around the house indoors and the yard. A cat can live a great life in spite of loosing their sight. Tina passed away in her sleep just before her 23rd birthday.

I adopted an older cat several years ago. I big blue eyed long haired guy named Mr Snowman, which we promptly changed to Snow as it seemed more dignified and he was a very dignified cat. He had been declawed in front before I got him. (I would NEVER) We had 2 Boxer girls at the same time. So we had a dog door. Snow was a Big Guy, though not unhealthy, and much older than I'd been told. More like 13-14 instead of 9 or 10. Well he used the dog door and went out in the yard and loved it. He was protected from any neighborhood cats as our girls would come out immediately if Snow made noise and he couldn't get out of the yard with no front claws. I noticed one day that out in the yard his pupils were not contracting in the bright sunlight. Took him in. Vet told me he'd been blind for several years as his retinas were completely detached and atrophied. He lived with us for another 7 years before succumbing to a facial cancer that was right below his right eye. We had to put him down. At this point he was still a huge robust otherwise healthy but old cat. We still couldn't tell that he was blind.

Gosh, I feel so bad for the big puppy. It is so incredibly important that you keep _all_ dogs slim. Just like it's important to keep your own body healthy. They probably told them to stop filming as emergency procedures when into place. It is chaotic situation. Lots of swearing and yelling can happen. Show probably does not want to show cat dying. Anesthesia is very risky especially in older cats. We had a kitty die just as we started. Unknown heart conditions. Unknown drug allergies. A blood vessel bursts. It is scary and devastating. I watch a lot of vet videos and didn't know anesthesia could cause blindness! My goodness, poor kitty. What was in his stomach?
@only1one1me4 жыл бұрын
I think it's actually that his heart must have stopped because of the stress the anesthetic put on him, and he stopped breathing. He stopped breathing long enough for it to cause brain damage, which resulted in blindness.
@sabenarwestreich-brown39594 жыл бұрын
The mass in the cat's stomach was benign but YT didn't allow Dr. Scott's channel (bondi vet) to even explain it and cut it out of the video before we could find out.
@AirdrieReed3 жыл бұрын
it was the anoxia from the cardiac arrest; older cat do poorly under GA. It is difficult to restart a cat's heart and thus keep blood circulation even in a clinical setting, and oxygenation is difficult due to the effectiveness of compressions and esp when they aren't on a ventilator - I believe they pulled her ET tube already when her heart stopped,- so their organs are starved of oxygen. The brain is most sensitive to lack of oxygen. In humans an anoxic brain event can begin at 4 minutes.

KZbin has problems with them showing the surgery.
@mellwie4 жыл бұрын
It is probably because they're trying to *avoid* having the video de-monetized (not being able to make money off the video). KZbin has become more strict (and chaotic) lately, and you know how surgical footage is, it can look kinda gruesome, and youtube is putting a stop to anything that can cause the mildest of discomfort in viewers. I know some other channels have been hit by de-monetization because of similar things. It is truly a shame that they are so sensitive at all, and just unfortunate that in this show those segments also contain valuable information that now gets lost.
