Thank you for pointing out that people need to shoot what works for them! That is the set up that works best for you. I get comments about my heavy arrows but that is what I have found works best for my bow and draw length. Like T bone I have spent years trying to build the perfect set up going from crazy light arrows to super heavy and for me personally a 605 grain arrow with 19% FOC works best with my 31.5” draw shooting 74lbs.

What type of broadhead do you use and how heavy are they? Also how heavy are your inserts?
@cjherriman72263 ай бұрын
I have two different broadheads I am running. The first is the German Jager 175 grain and second is the Swacker 150. Jager is on the Easton Axis 300 spine with 75 grain outsert. Swacker is on blood sport onyx with 60 grain outsert. Also there is a rage 150.

Learn how to use a grain scale. Set the arrow holder on the scale then push the "tare" button. It will zero the scale then you can set the arrow on and get your exact weight. No math needed.

Not very familiar with Alta arrows , but if they are putting out spine charts like so many other arrow companies do - in my humble opinion those arrows built are under spine’d for any newer bow with more than a 65# draw weight.

When installing inserts does it really matter if you take the nock out before gluing in the insert. To prevent pressure from push inserts.or is that a ole wise tail
@adamcap73 ай бұрын
If your nocks are solid yes it does. So brass inserts are solid and that pressure you're making from pushing the nock in can make it back out. The aluminum insert has a hole so when you push the nock on there's no pressure behind it

Hard to get a 470-500 grain arrow with an Altra for my 31.5” draw length at 74# draw weight…. Need a 250 spine and Altra GPI is way too heavy. I’ll stick with my Sirius Gemini 250’s. 29.25” carbon to carbon; 57.2 grain hit and collar from Podium; 125 grain mega meat; Silent Knight vanes….. 472 grains/15.95% foc

america has alot off varieties are builds for their critters they kill. works for them wel, heavy light doesnt make much differencel. not suitable for some countries due to massive difference in game size. proves though certain game alot off arrows are way overbuilt. elefant arrows for a buffaloes, elk arrows for whitetail. do what you feel best, faith in your build makes you confident and miss less (trade secrets to success)

Shooting a 340 spine arrow with that much weight up front and your specs is REALLY under spinning that arrow. Really accelerating the carbon breakdown when shooting it over a shorter period of time. Making it dangerous to shoot over time and will make the arrows inherently inaccurate. Shoot a 250 spine with that same setup and it will shoot better. My 2 cents. For others to follow this could be dangerous on their part. Physics doesn’t lie.
@brandonoutdoors96222 ай бұрын
I’m sure all what’s on his wall his set up works just fine for his bow
@drdrum1000Ай бұрын
@brandonoutdoors9622 that's not what he's saying. Anyone's setup will work great if the bows tuned. And any arrow will work, some are better. Like a 250 spine for all that added weight. Yes the arrow chart other back of almost every box has the answer. But it's just a generic answer. When you truly start tuning your setup, arrows included, now you need to account for the added weight to achieve the required F.O.C. Ranch fairy explains it, if you can follow along. He's a goofball but he knows his stuff.
@123789timothy10 күн бұрын
While I do agree with you it should be noted that his arrows are pretty short. I’m sure he could have gone with a stiffer spine but also every arrow reacts differently to how you weight them. My arrows for one bow are similar to his, rip tko 27” 90gr inserts 100gr tips but I run 300 spine 80lb ventum pro. Foc is way too high and yet they still shoot great tuned great. Switch over to my nexus 2 and I’ve got 4mm axis 27” with 55gr insert 100gr tip and I’ve got those in a 250 spine. 300 spine would constantly throw inconsistent bare shafts 250 worked perfectly. Who knows his specific arrows might just work better loaded up a little more on the tip
@masonpierce44249 күн бұрын
I agree, but also keep in mind these newer bows really like a weaker spine and are more forgiving on the shot and doesn't break down the spine like older bows used to
