Brilliant footage 👍 I have many fond memories of the class 303s (and indeed the 311s) whenever I visited Glasgow in my younger days Bouncing along the WCML at speed on a Lanark service was one of my lasting memories

Try reading again, not Sheffield but SheNfield, the original 307 ( I think) sliding door units! R.T.

What is happening to the original 'Shenfield' unit, 017? I donated £30 to the NRM funding several years ago. They said the funding was doing well enough that they were confident of being able to support the full 3 car restoration. I think it may be at Locomotion/Shildon nowadays...? Display space is a potential problem for 3 cars; wouldn't it be nice to reinstate the middle road of the main lines at York station. The bare ballast trackbed looks 'in need' of something interesting and it could be an ideal way of promoting the museum. Richard T. Cambridge.

Fifty of the Class 303 electric units were refurbished during the mid-1980s and these gained hopper style window ventilation.

I didn't notice that. I agree thats a major difference in wire heights or rail heights. Thanks for commenting Gary.

Look very worn. Glad one of the 314s was selected for the H2 project.

The H2 project has now finished and the vehicle will be broken up soon with one of the coaches donated to the Scottish Railway museum.

@@BONESS27001 was hoping they would keep the entire train together. I guess they have reasons for not doing so.

I can see why they were scrapped, as they were RIDDLED with faults. One motor coach caught fire, and two of them exploded. One set has been preserved though, but it's formed of two sets' coaches, 303032 and 303033. 032's motor coach was missing, it was most likely scrapped, so they used the one from 033 instead. It doesn't have a new number yet, but I'd re-number it to 303101.

These units were life expired at over 40 years old. The motor coach from 303032 should have been at Bo'ness but was damaged at the scrap yard. Thanks for your comment.

Not Sheffield but SheNfield, the original 307 (I think) sliding door units, in which I often travelled in 1950-60s!
