Bongao, Tawi-Tawi II Southern part of Philippines close to Sabah Malaysia

This is Bongao, the center of Tawi-Tawi. People living here are mainly composed of Sama and Tausugs. There are also Chinese, Cebuanos and other tribes of the Philippines which are in minority. Almost everyday, people from all the islands visit here to buy and sell goods.
Most of the Tawi-Tawians are educated. Almost everyone can understand Tagalog -- the main language of the Philippines. And just incase you're a foreigner who speaks english, the locals can also communicate with you especially by teenagers and older. Enjoy watching! :)

Excellent and cool presentation of Bongao, capital of TawiTawi Province. A friend whom I meet in the early 80’s in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is the ASEC of the Department of Tourism. He was originally from Region 10, CDO but his relative was married to the political family in Tawi2. His name was Gil Pajo. And another friend a teacher of Bongao Trade School, whose husband was a branch Manager of Land Bank Bongao. Though I am full blooded Mindanawon the nearest travel close to Tawi2 is Jolo, Sulu. I lived in Davao City and presently residing in GTA, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I wish TAWITAWI become economic hub in Southern Philippines, when the Master Economic Plan to put up Economic Zone, developing Sitangkay as Shipping HUB for several thousand ships passing daily and further Tourism Infra and DOTR deploying the fast craft transport for Tourist to visit Turtle Island and powdery white beach. PN and Philippine Marines secured and protect investors from bad elements that hover and hide is smaller islets, by deploying fast attack Shaldag Patrol Craft. Mabuhay TAWITAWI! God bless.

We were also glad that you mentioned about Sitangkai, which is one of the best island for investors to put their money on. Ngayon, ang lakas talaga ng seaweeds productions nila. I'd like also to add, just incase you knew someone who wanted to experience island hopping here, we still have wood boat (locally known as lantsa) going to many islands, including turtle island. Bongao I've been there many times may last visit is on 2008. What a nice place and wet market is much cheaper. Yes a peaceful to visit you can take by boat from zamboanga or by plane.

Ang tagal na po ah, 1969. Marami na po talaga nagbago sa Bongao. Ako naman po, sa tagal ko sa Bongao, hindi pa ako nakapunta ng Bato-Bato. Even now na may connecting bridge na, hindi parin. Pero soon, i'll go there, hehe..
