I have prided myself in specializing in operatic tenors since I was ten years old, and I too do not know many of them. So, don't feel too badly. I think that a couple of the speeds on the recording there pitched incorrectly, which made it more difficult. Years ago, I purchased a variable speed CD recorder and turntable, which is invaluable for recording live recordings.

Simpatico e piacevolissimo concorso e mio figlio ora trasmetterà la mail con le risposte. Mi ha coinvolto su alcune e vedendo "Bongiovanni" ho fatto un tuffo nel passato e nei ricordi. Negli anni 80 facevo il servizio civile a Bologna. Cominciavo allora ad interessarmi alla lirica e, praticamente tutti i giorni, facevo visita al Grandissimo Bongiovanni. Una persona straordinaria, di cultura, sensibilità e gentilezza rare. Lì mi faceva ascoltare registrazioni introvabili, vere e proprie chicche commentandole da par suo, con un amore infinito per la musica che traspariva da ogni parola e ogni gesto. E poi... Tutti gli strepitosi tenori (perché questi amavo) che mi ha fatto scoprire nel tempo! Quindi.. Solo questo: l'occasione per un abbraccio commosso al mio amatissimo e indimenticabile Bongiovanni

I might, just might, be able to guess the tenor, though I'm very uncertain. But the song, I have no idea whatsoever. On the bright side, while researching for this final quiz, I was able to find the name of the song sung by Tenor 11 ;) And the piece by Tenor 14 ;)

The tenor was hard, but I had an idea from the start that confirmed itself as soon as I started listening to recordings by those I suspected. Now, this song took me ages to discover. It took me quite some time listening to every song this tenor recorded - and he recorded a lot of them! And then, when I saw the title of the song I did not even had to listen to it to know it was the one, for I already knew by heart the snippet that was posted.

This is again something special. :) In any case a beautiful song. I think that not many opera tenors, or opera singers at all have sung or recorded this song.

And again you would be right I think. The song is a rarity - maybe even harder to guess than the tenor. If you've heard him before you should be able to recognize his voice, it's very distinctive.

@@AfroPoli Tenor 9 came to my mind. This tenor, very beautiful voice. But at the moment I don't know...... Maybe... But anyway, so great that you've chosen this wonderful song, that I found out already. You know, I love Napoli, and will go there again, after Corona. And of course also to beautiful Bologna. :)

@@siukola1 Amazing that you figured out the song. Well, Napoli is the key! As to the tenor, they say that he was the only one to rival Caruso in singing those songs. He had a splendid but short career almost only inside Italy. He made hundreds of records - and a movie. And before you come to Bologna, let us know. Let's have a tour to the "heiligen Hallen" of the Bongiovanni shop! :)

@@AfroPoli I think it is a very famous tenor. But it's difficult, because in a song like this the voice often sounds a bit different than in an opera aria. The tessitura is often lower and the singer sings lighter (piu leggiero) and the style is different.
